Case in point "stop logging, save the spotted owl" which only created conditions for the Barre's owl to move in and decimate the spotted owl. The recent yellow spotted frog scare is the latest scare, science shows it to be a virus killing them and not offroad activities and yet the slapp lawsuits were forthcoming, and it is one of the reasons we all find more and more gates closed. One reason why I have 0 respect for the esa act.It has become a tool for people or groups advocating land closure. The ESA ACT is no longer credible in my eyes,it needs to be abolished,or at minimum amended.
People who recreate on public lands have become too apathetic.
We have been lied to and manipulated into the constant threat of land closure.

That pic of Big Baldy ridge was taken on Eshom Valley Rd. just past the Cemetary Rd. The one on the previous page was taken further up, on the same road.

I don't see the ESA going away anytime soon.

Another piece of legislation is the "Equal Access to Justice Act" (EAJA). The green side has manipulated this law to file lawsuits against the government commanding millions in fees for their lawers. There is a bill to help fix some of the problems with EAJA:

This really pisses me off:

Post #59: "...repeal the Equal Access to Justice Act...it's a terrible piece of legislation that has been mutated into a money making lawyer machine for the eco-terrorists."

Post #56: "The Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) also files a significant amount of litigation and receives lucrative attorney fees. In Washington State Federal District Court alone, CBD received attorney fees totaling $941,000 for only six cases. In the District of Columbia, it received more than $1 million in fees."

I think when the esa act was originally drafted the authors had good intentions on saving species, like any law as times change, people and other factors such as sierra club, cbd, peers, have abused it to where it doesn't make sense anymore. A few examples are the delta smelt fiasco, where a tiny fish that was brought here from china now dictates water allocation in California.
Another example is the sage bush fiasco, the Eco-terrorists are trying to use it to close out millions more acres in Nevada and the sierras. The ESA needs to go. The livelihoods of the people and communities affected by these insane ESA designations should be taken in account for.

any groups and any person using the word "ecoterrorists" under anything regarding environmentalism (saving our forests) can identify themselves as a moron.
use your words wisely, guys.

This just popped into my inbox, thought I'd share:

USFS Sequoia National Forest Announces Public Meeting for Revised Forest Plans
PORTERVILLE, CALIF., AUGUST 15, 2014—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. The U.S. Forest Service today announced that in anticipation of releasing a Notice of Intent (NOI) at the end of this month, it has scheduled a public meeting for the Sequoia National Forest at:

  • 6:00-8:00pm - Tuesday, September 16, Sequoia National Forest, Supervisor’s Office, 1839 South Newcomb Street, Porterville, CA

The NOI will inform the public of the Forest Service’s intent to prepare and develop an environmental impact statement (EIS) that, when completed, will revise forest plans for the Inyo, Sequoia and Sierra National Forests. The NOI will also have information on the purpose and need for this action along with the agency’s proposed action. The final EIS will result in three separate Records of Decision and three separate forest plans. Forest Supervisors will remain the “responsible official” for making decisions on their specific forest plans.

The Sierra, Sequoia and Inyo are three of eight national forests that were selected as “early adopters,” meaning they will be the first forests to revise their land management plans using the new National Forest System Planning Rule, which was completed in 2012. The planning rule provides the framework for Forest Service land management plans across the nation.

Next month’s public meeting is part of the “scoping period” which gives the public a chance to tell the Forest Service what issues and concerns they think should be addressed in the EIS before the Forest Service begins drafting the document, and to provide written public comment regarding the NOI’s purpose and need, and its proposed action.

For more information regarding forest plan revisions, visit the Pacific Southwest Region’s planning website at: www.fs.usda.gov/main/r5/landmanagement/planning.

For Sequoia National Forest-specific information, please contact:

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES: In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if special assistance to participate in this meeting is needed, please contact the appropriate National Forest. Notification at least 48 hours prior to the meeting will enable the Forest Service to make reasonable arrangements.
