Hey John, You must have stayed away from at least 3 of the 4 life sins. Cigs, Grog & Women as you look only half your age. But the bikes have sure GOT you good.

Re yr photo.. I don't know why . But I always have a laugh when I see a pic of a bike on the ground. ( not after a serious crash) but when things go belly up in comical situations. It happens to all of us at some stage..

I thought sand was difficult to ride, but snow is nearly impossible.

Bikes fall down go boom

Ian, While sitting in the snow - I had to laugh also. It just beats the heck out of cryin'.
If you want to see a photo that is VERY similar to mine - go back to page three of this thread - - - scroll down to Alcan Rider . . . then click on his link to: 5 corners ride. Read an entry or three - - -It is a great story he tells.. . not very far into his story, he located some snow on an Alaskan Highway. Imagine that. His response is pricelesss - - - oh, and his photos ain't bad either.

O.K. How old is: Realolddualsportguy? Do you remember when dirt was invented?

Ian: Stay away from cigarettes, grog and women? What? Are you nuts? I did give up cigarettes in 1983 after a three pack a day addiction became too much. Grog? Not a heavy duty drinker, but I often recall the day's events with Capt. Morgan. And then there are women - - - I recall a woman I met in Christchurch, New Zealand, she said, "Marriage should never stand in the way of true love. Come on with me Yank!" We are getting afield from L.D. riding. I repent.

Nothing wrong with your writing skills. Some stories need pictures, but with your writing skills I get enough images in my mind. Keep on riding and writing.

I didn't even notice there were no pictures! Your writing got me from the start. After your story of the tipover, I was sure you'd pack it in. I commend you for your fortitude (rockheadedness?) in continuing on. You're an inspiration. And to think I get strange looks when people find out I ride - wait 'til I'm your age (in five years)!

Thank you all for reading my tale and the wonderful comments you have posted. My EGO shines from all the stroking you have given. This tale is at an end. I just purchased a 2005, TW200 with 398 original miles. It will be interesting to see where that leads.
Next on the "Possibles" list is Alaska. Got snowed out on last attempt. Who knows, You might find me in the future on the Big Boys Forum - - - Ride Reports. John

Good ride report. No need for pics. Excellent descriptions and a few colloquialisms made it very interesting.

I have several friends who are approaching antiquity. One is 85 and still rides most every day. He stays on pavement, now. I found him on Rattlesnake Grade this year. Another, over 70, just entered Mexico, for an extended ride.

Remember, when you can't "get a leg over" there are maxi scooters.

Hold the geezer banner high and ride on.
