Wow, look at this gem tucked away in Day Trippin'! You seriously could/should have thrown this in Ride Reports; certainly epic enough.

I appreciate humble whenever I see it, and you come off that way throughout your RR. But insult yourself as you may, I just read this report front to back non-stop and screwed myself for sleep . Give yourself due credit man- this is great stuff.

The pics are great, the commentary is great, many unique elements (support crew, hikes, etc), and damn is that a nice Vstrom. I have scrapbooked this report (firefox extension- permanently save webpages) for future reading and for planning my trip to Alaska next year.

Thanks for your time

No kidding!!! Really great idea, family vacation/solo bike tour. Inspired Sir.

I'm always late to the party, but I needed (truly NEEDED) a diversion exactly like this today. Muchas gracias amigo.

Hey, thanks guys. It's odd how this thread resurrected somehow. ...but it's fun to relive it.

I have no idea how he did it, but look at the pic below - one of the FFs on this forum was kind enough to magically make the doofus disappear.

Thanks Phil! How did you do that

Finally Got My Daughter on the Bike

It took me the better part of 20 years, but I had a "Well Duh" revelation; one-on-one time with your kids(and spouse) is about as good as it gets ...even if the "kid" is about grown up. I FINALLY got my 21 year old on the bike a few weeks ago - and went on a trip up into Tenn and NC. She stuck to my back like glue for the first half hour, but in time she loosened up and we had a blast.

We went up to Tellico Plaines and camped on a Saturday. After setting up camp, we rode the Cherohala, then she wanted to run up to Deal's Gap to get a bragging-rights shirt.

I didn't know it, but she was snapping away with the camera back there

Sometimes life is awesome.

I love riding with my daughter. She's almost 24. It doesn't happen often.

Very nice.

I'm eagerly waiting for my kids to get old enough to take along, I've got some time though since one is 19 mos. and the other 4 years.
