Eek Skunked!

It was a beautiful Sunday ride in North Texas. High cloud cover and about 65 degrees.

In practice for the Second Annual Motorcycle Tour de Go Somewhere, I shot about three hours of video from my helmet cam mounted in different locations on and about the bike.

Fast foreword to a wrong turn and a rather pungent encounter with Mother Nature's vapor facory...

We'll see how the image post goes. This is my first try. (Edit: It only took three tries. I got it now)

I was traveling about 50mph when I realized I had company...

The camera was mounted wrong. What looks like a lean to the left is actually straight up,

On the binders and trying to decide if he/she is going to continue across the road or make a U-turn...

I'm now comitted to go behind. My options have rapidly decreased...

The gun is loaded and the hammer is cocked...Sumbitch!!!

The lifting of the leg in hope that the skunk's close proximity to the ground will affect the ultimate elevation of the shot...

All in all the leg lift was successful. The hit was square but low.

Once past the bazooka, I had to do a little creative jinking to keep the bike on the road. This was caused not so much by the effort of dodging the skunk but more so by the fact that I was laughing my ass off!

I stopped to survey the damage. There was no evidence of peeling paint but I quickly decided that it was much easier to get along with the smell at a higher rate of speed!

200 miles later I stripped at the front door and dropped the 'Stich in the washer with about 2 cups of Simple Green and the intense cycle. Believe it or not, it took the smell out!

I realize the implication of hitting a skunk at speed and thank God that this went from a potentially deadly situation to one of humor and rare capture on video.

I always ride ATGATT.

Thanks for coming along. MacMan

Laugh

This has to be a rare photo op. Nice pictures. I've had to remove skunk spray from my own bike and it seems like the stuffs painted on but WD-40 has to be the best spray dissolver . Info to stash away.

Too funny. The little bastard was probably saying,"I got your king of the road, right here".
