Gold Bluffs Beach/Fern Canyon
So last Friday was my Dads 72nd B-Day and he and my Stepmoms 25 anniversary, they Honeymooned here, plus Fathers Day was Sunday.
Every year they camp at Gold Bluffs Beach just North of Orick California. I haven't been there since my College days at HSU in the 80's. So I loaded up and left home early Friday, went over Hwy 299, it's about 350 miles each way.
The weather was perfect, super perfect for the North Coast, here's a few pics
My parents got there on Wed. the campground is first come basis, 26 sites, seven mile dirt road from Hwy. 101.
Fern Canyon is two miles from the campground two little creek crossings.
There's a few trails, couple of miles and up. Had some good times here while in College.
The area is home to a large Elk herd also
Nice sunset on Sat.
Left early Sun. AM and came home on Hwy 36, cooken hot from Red Bluff to my place. Lots of other bikes, not a whole lot of car or RV traffic the whole weekend.

I grew up In Orick (1975-1988). Lived on a dairy farm that used to sit where the dirt road starts heading out to gold bluff beach. It's all park property now. They left one barn standing for government use. You rode right past it.
Thanks for the memories.
edit: HSU class of 2000!
