Being from Memphis, living in Memphis and having kids that have got me tied to Memphis for at least another 9 years... it's great to see all the places that are attainable from here.

I still get a big smile from seeing pictures online of places that I drive past everyday. Namely, that map of your Fayette Co loop. I might have to give that a go very soon! There is a guy I run with (literally, run.. like, on foot for fun), who invited me to go over to Mountain Home, AR this year with his group.

And in case you didn't hear, that rooster from the General Store in Millington died a few months ago.

If you ever pass some goober on a blue Ninja 250r (or hopefully a red white blue VFR soon), give a wave. Usually around Sam Cooper Blvd or downtown/Midtown.

Only bad part is you gotta do 75 to 100 miles to get to something decent.

Good part is we can get to the base of the Ozarks fairly quick.

Funny you mention the dirty Dova. I'm at Chuck e Cheese right now with my kids.

I grew up in Collierville but have come to love that bohemian area. :-)

As for Mountain Home, I ran the Sylamore 50k a few months ago, and the start \finish was at the store and restaurant out by the mountain.

AWSOME, i am brand new to the site. live in east TN but after that read ill be planning a trip to the west side very soon. thanks for sharing. iam in johnson city area, roan mountian and the draggon tails 1hr ride from me. have an ALB NM trip in one week from now. RIDE ON,,,,,

Next time you head to the ferry off of 232. Right after you turn off 232 headed for the river look up on that hill to your right at the Southern Aire Motel and Restaurant. They have EXCELLENT food. Fantastic breakfasts, great buffets and some of the best beef you ever ate. The ladies ready with the tea pitchers at the ready are a bonus.

I'm making West TN look far better than it really is in person. You live in motorcycle paradise!
However, If you really really have a hankerin' for' straight roads with little change in elevation, head on over. The humidity festival in July/August is a can't miss event.
All kidding aside, Middle TN, and the Ozarks are really the go-to places in these parts. Don't get me wrong, there are some good roads in West TN, but you have to travel long distances on the straight boring ones to find 'em.

Good idea. You need to get out of the house...I'm 125 miles away and can get you lost in your back yard. You need to be showing ME the countryside, not the other way 'round.

In other news...

By show of hands, who else cuts up Gibson Explorer's and uses them as wheel chocks?

You are corect I write this with my head held in somewhat shame. Actually I bet you can get a lot of the members here in west / middle TN and probably some of Arkansas lost in their back yards.

I will make every effort to do better and get out there and make some wrong turns and see what happens. I'll let you know if I run up on something good. If you don't hear from me I may have run up on something not so good.

HA! How random is that! Been a longtime lurker and recently joined up as I am looking to get back into riding. Took two years off to play with my car but have missed two wheels desperately!
