My room with a view in Montanita.
I bought a bottle of sparkling wine to drink in my hammock that evening.
I popped the plastic cork and there was no pop
The wine went to waste that night
I am not buying any more wine until I get to the wine country down south

I rode in to the city of Guayaquil (population 3 million) trying t find the BMW dealership by chance. I figured that they could mount and balance my tires that I have been carrying. I carryed them 2000 miles from Bogota. I found a Honda dealer and stopped there instead. They charged me $15.62 to mount and balance both tires. And that includes removing the wheels from my motorcycle. And that compares favorably to the $62 I was charged in Whitehorse Yukon to mount and balance ONE tire. And I removed the wheel myself from the bike.
I love Ecuador but i don't like all the bad guys with guns here,

I think I got my money's worth out of these tires. I put 13,000 miles on them. Honestly, I pushed them too far. It was dangerous. The tires were flat across the profile. The bike did not want to turn.
Now that I have the new tires on, the bike turns quickly. too quickly now.
I have to get used to it. It's like riding a new bike

The dealer finished with my bike around dusk. I didn't want to stay in Guayaquil which meant riding thru Ecuador's most dangerous city at night. And after hearing about a fellow rider's misfortune about being robbed earlier that day, I wanted to get the hell out of that town.
I rode about an hour out of town to this little shit hole town with only one hotel in Puerto Inca. The guy wanted $20 to stay there. I told him $15. He said ok
The room smelled like baby's diaper. A really stinky one.
And there were a million mosquitos in the room. I never used my mosquito net/tent until now. It worked well and I didn't have one mosquito buzz my ear that night.

Lalo,

Be safe down there. Keep your head on a swivel and the rubber side down!

I went from the beach to over 13,000 feet in less than 2 hours. I went hiking a Cajas Nat'l Park. It has some cool scenery, all above the tree line.

I met and hiked with 2 cute Swiss girls.
The ground was really muddy and it was like walking on ice at time.
It rained a bit too on us.
