I took a boat ride out to the Floating Islands on Lake Titicaca.
The people have been building islands out of reeds and living on these islands for centuries. The islands literally float.
It is the craziest thing. And they are not doing it for "show" for the touists. It's just what they do ad how they live.

This is very common place in South America
Moto Taxis
The front half is a motorcycle and the back half is the taxi
I finally had a chance to ride in one in Puno.
It was actually nice.
Now I want to drive one
Maybe next time I will do a RTW trip in one.
But I want to put a 1000 cc Suzuki GSX-R motor in one first

I ran across similar pics and thought, "I have seen something like this before". A bit of research and I found comments and photos regarding "mummified llama fetuses used to banish evil spirits according to local traditional beliefs".

Okay, sort weird, but I found it less disturbing than considering mummified duck being someone's version of "cup o noodles"! LOL!

Finally caught up.
Awesome adventure! Thank you for sharing so much. Really enjoying your thoughts. I had very similar thoughts about 20 years ago on a year long bicycle trip.

Now I can get back to work.

Stay safe and keep having fun.

Usually I read the RR backwards, so when I saw the picture of Cathe sitting on the bike, I was like WTF, what did I miss??? When I personally saw your bike you were in San Juan del sur and now you are in Peru and with a cute girl!!! Way to go man, keep It up.

Francisco.

Great RR!!

I must say Ive spent the better part of 4 work days reading your RR from start to finish (yeah I have a gravy job with lots of free time). Thanks for your time in sharing. The pics and reading are great. I really like the raw details that build the substance of the reading. It allows myself a view into the dynamics of what a trip of this magnitude entails. "Everything has a price" and so true as you pay it. You are the most alive when you have the most to lose, and all of what you own, owns you. Dont sweat the material things, you can always make that back. To put things in perspective youve been on the road for 11 months which equals 48 weeks. A person with two weeks vacation a year would have to work 24 years for that same amount of time off, and youve actually done something with it!

A couple questions for you.
1. What do you think it would take in money for two up of the same type trip?
2. How much trouble has it been to keep cash in terms of using an atm and such thru the different countries?

Keep living, keep writing, and safe travels to you Lalo.

I asked the lady selling the birds and she said it was food.
Just shows that they will eat anything if they are hungry enough
