I am not sure that you want to hear about the wineries
When I get my wine blog going, you can read about them if you are interested.
For now, enjoy the pics

The second winery, I had to buy a bottle of Malbec. It was only about $11. You can not get wine of this quality in the US for that little.
And the people of Argentina love their wine. You can buy a box of wine for as little as 50 cents. A good white goes for $5 and a red for $10. And I am a wine snob. So when I say a good bottle.......I mean something really good!

I set out here and thought about how lucky I am. I am in Argentina, pouring myself all these wonderful wines on a beautiful fall day

This is the 3rd winery I went to
It was not as good as the first two but I suspected it.
It was a new winery
With new vines
But the owner was an American that spend a ton of dough on building this winery. I had to check it out. It reminded me of something out of Napa Valley. It was letting the facility sell the wine, not the wine selling itsself

I had to go there for work and although not really impressed with the wine, he built a museum for a renowned artist called James Turrell.

The museum was built to meet the artwork as it interacts with the space and architecture of the place.

The setting is magical. The artwork is amazing. It was really one of the highlights to see that mystical place and have a tasting.
For me, the best wine was one called, Molino de Cachi. Very hard to find, but very rewarding when you do.

If you go there, and pass the mytical Molino on a hill, you will ride one of the best roads of R40. Hopefully you can get to know quebrada de flechas
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebrada_de_Las_Flechas
an uncredited beauty, or not as famous as it should be, maybe for the better.
Have fun. Enjoy and if you are shipping your bike from there I recommend dakar motos, I used them while was there and they were tons of help.
Safe riding.
Thanks for the tips but I left Salta a couple of days ago
But I did visit Colome'. That winery was definitely on my list. I was not able to see the museum so I will have to go back.
But I did travel thru Quebrada Flechas. I posted some pictures and I hope to post some videos too
Awesome place.

Anyway, really enjoying the sincerity of your writing and great pics. Keep the good work up and continue to enjoy your freedom.

Should you ride anywhere near Northern Spain give me a shout and I'll be happy to have a beer with you and give you a place to put your bike and sleeping bag.

Safe riding.
I should be in Spain in a couple of weeks if all works out.
We'll see
See you soon?

PS How about a Gran Reserva Rioja instead of that beer?

And then about 2 minutes later, I ran in to the 2 handsome guys from Oregon that are riding their DRZ400's to Buenas Aires. We had a nice steak and lots of wine that night. And then some really bad stuff happened.......they wanted to blow something up with some Dynamite they bought in Bolivia. I tried to stop them but the devil in them just took over........At least that is the way I remember it

Becuase they knew I loved wine, it was their idea to blow up an entire vineyard with their dynamite.
This picture shows the dynamite strapped to a 100 year old grapevine.
And the fuse is lit..........RUN!!!!

Video

Here's a video that proves that I wanted no part in the blowing up of the vineyard.
