Snow and ice

I just heard the pass is open.
But this Southern California boy doesn't know squat about riding a big adventure bike thru snow and ice. Any of you mid-westerners want to give me some tips before I head out to cross the Andes?.. Does snow even melt at 14,000 feet?
Like everything so far, it will probably not be a big deal. But I am not sure what I am going to expect. I don't want to go sliding off the road or under the wheels of some big rig

It is a section of the road in Uyuni that is covered in snow and ice
That was good practice for what will be coming up

This clip looks like a scene out of the Walking Dead series. Good luck going over the pass. Being a desert rat, I would suggest mo throttle.......................

Up on the pegs and on the gas riding thru the sand in nd around Uyuni.
You know the big GS does ok in the sand as long as you are on the gas. Get off the gas and things start to get interesting. Hit the brakes and you are going down for sure

Here's the cool canyon I rode thru south of Salta on Ruta 40 heading thru the wine country.
The pictures didn't do it justice but the video is better. Still never as good as the real thing......

great videos

and RR.
One of the highlights for me was paso hua hum.
its probably closed this time of the year.
You take a ferry on the chilean side thru a lake that is just jaw dropping.
Glad you did see Colome, just getting there is awesome.
Too bad you missed the museum, now you have a good reason to come back.
Turrell I think is from California, there should be other options to see his work there.
The wines you carry are delightful, malbec is the best.
Chile will give you new flavours.
Enjoy.

I am envious because not only do I want to be with you but I also want to experience what you are experiencing. I am also proud of you too for what you are doing. I know you say anyone could do this and they could but it’s not just anyone who actually WOULD do it! You inspire me Sweetie!
These posts should have a way to hit a "thumbs up" button like Facebook. I'm just getting started looking at this thread. Your gf's post is heart warming and awesome. ...... you lucky guy. I am curious to keep reading your post and catch up to current time........
...... Ok, so there is a thumbs up. It just takes extra steps .....
