The next day, we just hung out by the pool. It was a beautiful day here in Mendoza

I had to take Kathe to the airport.
We were sad to be leaving our little paradise here in Mendoza called Posada Encuentro.
But I think I will be back here one day.
This place is too nice not to return.
The wines are amazing here in Mendoza.
The steaks are great.
The weather is nice
The scenary is wonderful
And the price is right

After I dropped Kathe off at the airport, I went downtown to exchange dollars for pesos
The official exchange rate is about 5.3 pesos to the dollar.
But on the street, it is 8.3.
And that is down from 9.3 less than ten days ago.
So it pays to exchange your money on the black market
But it is illegal.
And it is kind of scary to do.
There are guys on the street calling out "cambio" in a soft voice.
If you agree to their rate, you walk with them to a discrete area and make the exchange.
You to be careful you don't get counterfeit bills
And you have to be careful you don't get robbed after the exchange. Because now everyone knows you are carrying cash.
So I made the exchange and walked back to my bike. I had to pass a lot of the other shady guys on the street who are trading money. Plus I had to walk past the police who are stationed there on the street.
I thought for sure the police were going to stop me as it was obvious what was going on. But they didn't. But they did give me a look, but then everyone looks at me when I am wearing my Rev'it suit. I thought maybe the police would take my money. But I kept walking back to my motorcycle parked on the curb. As I walked, I put my helmet and gloves on so I would be ready to ride off as soon as I got there. And I did.
I got my pesos and was out of there

On the way back from the airport, I had time to stop at one more winery.
Luigi Bosca
Again, another great experience and winery

Black Forest Iím guessing? Next time you come out give me a shout for some dirt biking. My youngest (whoís now 20) and I have spent the last 10 years off-roading and know the state pretty well; however Iím not sure your 1200 would work very well in single track!
Not to beat a dead horse but the thing about your ex is some women come and go; itís a fact of life. Though waiting for someone to return after extended absence can be difficult, just ask me about some of my short tours and the ďDear BillĒ letters that proceeded after say a month on assignment. Looks like you got a good thing going with Cathe. Itís always nice to have a travel companion especially on a long trips and who knows maybe it could turn into a long term relationship! Hope the fun and adventure continues, Iíll be monitoring from afar with envy! Your pictures and documentary are truly awesome, I especially like the wineryís being that Iím from the central coast of Cali!.
Rubber side down!
FWIW Iím an old Calif gringo surfer and Iíve been happily married to a Latina woman for over 27 years.
To give my brother a plug, he has a company called Bach Crawlers. It is in Monument I believe. He restores, lifts and modifies Jeeps. He is the Jeep guru in CO. Stop by and see him. He is a fun guy just to chat with.
As far as being away from home, it actually gets easier. Traveling has become my new norm. I have some routines but for the most part, every day is different. .......and I like it. Never a dull day on the road.
And as far as women go, I still like blonds but latinas are a lot of fun.

Yes, Kathe and I have been very active

I think I have actually lost weight.
Going thru a country like Bolivia will do that.
You are afraid to eat a lot of things there.
And the other stuff just doesn't look appealing.
And there are days where I just don't have time to stop and find something to eat. There are no fast food restaurants outside the big cities. So eatting is a challenge.
So long story short, if you want to lose weight, go on a RTW motorcycle trip. And having a GF like Kathe probably doesn't hurt either

traveling the world on two wheels tasting fine wine ................Amazing

Next time try listing your kids at no reserve.
If that doesn't work, take them down to the local meat market at see if you can get $3.99 a pound for them

I wish i knew something about wine. My knowledge consists of is it sweet? Is it dry? Does it come in a box

I am going to miss this place. Good times.

Valle de Uco

The new wine country in Argentina is Uco Valley. It is at the foothills of the Andes. The who's who in the wine world seems to be opening up wineries in this area and I had to check out the best of the best.
