Here's some pics from the hike I did.
No one else was on the trails as it was so hot.
But I made my way the mountain and found a cool little rock cabin that was stocked with cheap whiskey and port. I had a little sip

After my hot hike, I went for a kayak paddle around the like.
The water was warm so I went for a swim and cleaned up and washed my hair.

That night, I camped by a creek so I could cool down my wine. It was too hot to drink since it was in my cases all day in the 104 degree heat.
I cooked up some pasta and drank my 2001 Alta Rioja Gran Reserva.....Yum!

The next day, I rode out to The Douro Valley to the land where port wines have been made for the past 500 years.
Unfortunately for me, I didn't have the maps loaded on my GPS. I looked up the coordinates to the wineries on the internet so I had a target to shoot for.
It was like a game of "warmer/colder".......You are getting warmer.....warmer....now colder.
I finally found it but it was beautiful country getting lost in.

My first stop was Fonseca. They make some of the best port wines in the world. And it is one of the most beautiful tasting room locations too.

I hate camping in public campgrounds!!!!!!
Sure I get a hot shower but the family in the tent next to mine were up past 2am.
I was so close to yelling a shut the fuck up but I figured they wouldn't understand anyway

the world's oceans

I just swam in my third ocean on my trip.......the Atlantic here in Portugal.
I did the Pacific lots and the Arctic in Alaska.
Now I need to knock off the Indian and the Antarctic.
I think it's going to happen.

What a ride report. This page caught my eye. I was standing there when this event took place. I saw the Miura parked there for the first time. It made Ferrari look "old". Someone understood "cool" and had parked a white Hemi Dodge Charger at the Casino also. It a significant amount of attention also. Thanks for sharing.

For me, visiting the Monte Carlo Casino had special meaning.

If you know me, you know I love cars more than wine and maybe even motorcycles.
And there are two stories that I will never forget about this place.
Both took place back in the mid 60's

First one involves my favorite car in the world.........a Lamborghini Miura
Back in 1966, Lamborghini wanted to show up Enzo Ferrari and build something better. Mr Lamborghini built tractors and thought he could build a better sports car. His first attempt with the 350 and 400GT were a nice try but were by no means a show stopper.

So he hired Bertone to design the most beautiful car of all time......the Miura. There were two men that were responsible for the design.
Giorgetto Giugiaro started the design and Marcello Gandini finished it.
If you know your cars, you will know these names. They are 2 of the best car designers of all time.

Well, back to my story and how it relates to Monaco.
Remember, the 60's there was no internet and Mr Lamborghini wanted to show off his new design. He took the first prototype and asked his test driver at the time (Bob Wallace) to drive the car to the Monte Carlo Casino and just park it in front. Of course, within no time there was a crowd around the car. No one had ever seen such a beautiful and radical looking car. After all, it was one of first cars to have the engine in the middle of the car......like the race cars at the time.
Well, Bob came out of the casino every hour to start the engine and even a bigger crowd would appear.

Mr Lamborghini received so many orders for the car with this little stunt, he had no choice but to built the car. Unfortunately, the car was rushed in to production and it had lots of issues. But to me and many others, it is still the most awesome car of all time. And I stood in the same spot the car was parked almost 50 years ago.
