From there, they asked if I wanted to see the bottling line. I said......of course.
So I went to see how 40,000 bottles of Chimay were bottled each hour.

They were bottling the Grand Reserve in magnums (1.5 liters) on a special bottling line. I looked at those big bottles and said.......WOW!
The guy giving me the tour at the bottling plant picked one up and said......take it, it's yours!

WOW!

Best day ever

As I was leaving my private tour of Chimay, I kept pinching myself, not believing what just happened.
And then the guy said he had some gifts for me and handed my a box half the size of my motorcycle.
It contained shirts, hats, Chimay glasses, a pen and of course lots of beer.
Sadly I had to turn away most of the gifts as there was no way to carry it all on my moto.
I kept one of the shirts, a hat, the pen, one glass and the Magnum of the blue Chimay.
I had to turn away free beer......my favorite beer.
It was sweet sorrow.
But the boss gave me a very very special beer. Something that you will not find for sale anywhere. The boss at Chimay said.......I am going to give you this because you probably couldn't afford to buy it.
He gave me a bottle of the 1999 grand reserve Chimay from the 1999 vintage complete with the dust still on it from being aged at the brewery for 14 years.
I couldn't make this shit up if I tried.
Amazing day.
Too cool to be true.
But it was

Chimay!

You have inspired me.....also known as "It is dangerous to work next to a nice liquor store"!

Just picked up 3 Chimay's, one of each. I figure one of them should go with the T-bone I have set aside to grill tonight.

Thanks!

Wow!
I'm going to have to give Chimay another try. It's been a few years since I bought one. Guess you don't have to worry about that. The brewery frigin' [U]gives[U] them to you.
Keep making more of this good luck.

Check out the internet.
I am sure you will not find any of these pictures anywhere.
I kept pinching myself and asking myself why they were going all out to show me the brewery when it was closed to the public and there are hundreds of people each day that would love such a tour.
The head guy asked me how I was able to get around the gates and I told him that I found the back way in on the dirt road. He just laughed again.
Most people are turned away at the gate and these guys never see anyone. But because I found a way in and they saw my motorcycle and heard my story, all the doors were opened for me.
Such an awesome day
And it only got better

Absolutely fabulous!!! I need to take a trip to Belgium and Chimay
