Taboo in Thailand

Lalo, Don't tell me you did the OLD Benny Hill skit where Benny Hill keeps tapping Jackie on the top of his head. Funny here in the US, hugh sign of disrespect other parts of the world.

Headlock

I'm gonna go with a headlock. Having fun, grabbed one of them in a headlock. Thats a no no. Don't touch the head.

Laos

I crossed in to Laos.
The border crossing was pretty easy.
I got me and my Thai bike signed out of Thailand.
I have only 30 days out of Thailand before i get a 100 Baht penelty for having the bike out of the country for too long. But it capped at 2000 Baht so its not the end of the world.
In Laos, it was $35 Usd for my visa at the border and no issues with the bike as i had all the correct paperwork they were looking for.
After getting all my papers stamped, i headed to a restaurant for some food.
The girls cooked up some soup. There was no menu.......just soup.
When i walked outside, i saw a girl using my moto mirror to help apply herr make up.
Laos is probably the poorest country i have visited so far, but some things never change.
The people seem really friendly so far. And that is a surprise because they have every reason to hate us Americans. We dropped so my bombs on them, killed so many people and destroyed many of their temples. And all for what?

After spending the last three nights in my tent, i was ready for a hot shower and a cold beer.
I found this place on the Mekong River for about ten bucks a night
The is pretty much only one beer in Laos
Beerlao
Fortunately, the dark version is pretty good

In Laos, they will eat just about anything.
The jungles have been pretty much emptied of the animals.
Here a kid tries to sell a big rodent from the side of the road to passing motorist.

Hey Ed - don't knock the rat. Its a staple food there, once you get off the tourist trail.

That one fed me, my host family and a few others for dinner.... with some jungle leaves and nuts thrown in. I was just grateful I wasn't there during snail season.

Rats are a close cousin to squirrels, btw... and taste just as good

You have to love Laos, eh?

I prefer my rats at least to be skinned and gutted. That looks nasty.

Frickin small world!

Yo Lalo, have followed your RR from the start, bizarre thing is I was working in the Vintage Club in Palm Springs the week you took that picture and even more strange is I was at that outlook Saturday 1/18 before my flight home. Frickin' small world yeah? I wish you continued fortitude and prosperity on your life's adventure.
