Trailer Park

There was a really nice trailer park about 10 miles south of Playa del carmen that I stayed at.
It was 150 pesos a night
Kind of expensive but still a cheap option in the area
Plus it is really nice
Unfortunately, I put my tent up to a guy that liked to sing. And not good at all. He was loud and was still singing at mid-night. I tried singing too so he would see how annoying it was......it didn't help
I finally yelled.....................SHUT THE FUCK UP
And he just got louder
He finally went to sleep and so did I

Christmas Eve

It was Christmas Eve and I wanted to get away from the crowds and the trailer park singers, so I headed out to Punta Allen. I found a spot right on the beach under some coconuts trees. The problem was that the sand was much softer than I thought and my big, heavy bike sunk in. Have you ever tried pushing a fully loaded GS in the sand backward? Well neither have I and it can't be done. I was stuck and there was no one around for miles

The 30 minute U-turn

You GS guys probably know this trick. I have never tried it before. I was not sure it could be done. In fact, I wasn't even sure I could pick my bike up by myself.
One time in Baja, I watched a BMW training school class show the guys how to turn your bike around if it was pointed in the wrong direction and could not be ridden.
It was my only shot at getting out of the sand
I unloaded all the bags from my bike to reduce the weight. Then I put some boards under the right side cylinder head so the cylinder would not dig in to the sand. Then I tipped the bike on its side and pulled the rear wheel, and rotated the bike on the cylinder head until it was pointed in the right direction. Then I put my bags back on. And 30 minutes later, I was ready to ride out.

Ready to roll

Success!
And the best part is .............now I know it can be done myself and that I can lift my own bike up. I had never done that before

This beach was deserted for miles. I went in for a little dip here to cool off

The sand on the beach is like powder.
Punta Allen is a nice get away from the crowds to the north.
Just follow the Tulum road in. It turns to dirt and is a very nice GS raod
