Illinois trails

Anyone know of any trails in Illinois or Southern WI for off roading and motorcross? The forest preserves and private property are getting too risky for me.

here is some info on off-road / atv trails in Illinois:
http://www.trailsource.com/scripts/t...INOIS&TYPE=ATV
(edit: TrailSource now seems to be a subscription site, but you can google the names of the places and I'm sure find some free info)

Also, here are some places to ride from the Illinois DNR:

Thanks for the leads Marathon Man! I was out in Dixon today scouting out trails and asking my inlaws about the area but didn't find much. This is a great lead. Thanks again!

I really didn't plan on taking the Dakar on a motocross course but I might have to! What course are you talking about? Near White Pines?

Google, my friend, Google.

It's a chart, sectional or commonly refered to as a map. Much better than a Rand McNally.

DeLorme

I've managed to buy two for Minnesota and Wisconsin. One intact for planning and one for tearing apart and stuffing in the map case.

DeLorme Gazetteers. Thems the ones you want.

"Any State Atlas and Gazetteer" by Delorme, get it at Borders books or any book out let. It is topographic maps of th entire state. In this case we are talking Illinois. It will give all the roads! Thus dirt, gravel, some closed.... from there on, it becomes a adventure to find your taste in roads.

I want to know which forest preserve you've been riding in. I've always dreamed of that.

Just make color copies of the area you want to ride, slip them into your tank bag and go wander. I assure that it is not possible to get truly lost in the state of Illinois Drop me a line I can help with routing tips for most of the Midwest.

Are you familiar with the Forest Preserves around Chicago? They are loaded with cops dying to give people speeding tickets for 14mph in an 8mph zone. I just wondered how he snuck thru on a bike.

That one in Schaumburg would make an awesome enduro circuit tho.
