In!
Following along from Oregon. Our crazy weather is still trying to decide if it's spring or summer so it shouldn't be too hot when you get out here.
Have fun!

Did you start from Jellico or Tellico Plains? If from the latter you should have had 5 water crossings in the first 20 miles! After that it's mostly hard surface, at least as far as Winchester, TN.

Awesome... Solo TAT rider!
Im in... looking fwd to your RR. Have fun but be careful out there. Sounds like you already had a close call with a deer. I find it best to slow way down whenever I see large, fast animals like deer as they will often freeze on the side of the road and wait until you get right next to them before they bolt. And, they seem to take the clearest, fastest route which is often strait across the road... right in front of you! I've nearly hit a couple deer myself and once was on the TAT. I see you are camping... cool way to do the TAT on the cheap but you have to carry a lot more stuff. You may want to lighten up your load a little when you get to the western states as it gets a bit more technical in a few places which is not so much fun on a heavily loaded bike. Anyway... thanks for taking the time to bring us along for the adventure. |

loving it
Thanks for all the replies. It's nice knowing people are watching. I will get to all your questions.
The last 2 days have been a blast. Tennessee finished with a bang throwing in some killer dirt roads and more great scenery. This is my first time in the mid south and i really wasn't expecting much in Mississippi but i was totally blown away by the twisty dirt roads and great views. TN knows how to do it the easy way, who needs bridges anyway? ![]() Shot at 2012-07-02 First whoops ![]() Shot at 2012-07-02 Got a little taste of deep sand in Mississippi. Alloy chain rings are worthless....Get a steel chain ring, JT makes good ones. That's what I used it lasted the entire trip, make sure your chain isn't too tight. Your getting ready to throw that chain.
Best thing is to just order a chain rings a few days in advance...but your past that now, and have it sent to where you'll be. Motorcycle super store is quick.also Rocky mountain ATV and motorcycle.
