I am 99% sure that the handlebar diameter was different between the old 658 and the old 800.... (7/8" dia. vs. 1 1/4" diameter or ... something like that...)

Not sure what they have done on the 700 vs. 800

Not compatible, 650 uses 22mm bars, 800 28mm.

You might be able to buy the bar clamps separately though.

Ok.....sure. I'll play this game.

So what happened to baseballs that split their stitching with little or no use? Ones that didn't bounce right? Ones that were out of balance and wouldn't fly straight? Did balls used by "professional" baseballers fall apart because they were used "too hard"?

Were they part of an acceptable warranty failure rate?

Did people keep on buying those brands regardless?

A new ball kept in a glass case and not used is "perfect"...yes?

Not changing something does not equate to it being "perfect".

It just means they couldn't be fucked changing it. It just means they know they can sell you shit by saying it tastes just like chocolate.

Mmmm chocolate....see....now you're thinking about chocolate....not shit...that's how they do it.

We have been told that even TT and Barkbusters have found the new F800 to have changed slightly that they have to reconfigure their own hand guards made for the 2012 and earlier F800. They are working on it.

it looks like they lowered gearing on the f700 - what are engine rpm like on the highway at 65-80 mph?

They only added one tooth to back sprocket 17/41 --> 17/42 so just a wee bit higher than F658GS,
and still lower than F800GS

Nice site to muck around here: http://www.gearingcommander.com/

I hate to ask, but what happens when you run into a different colored Wizard?

Do I have this right? Triumph gave you two Tigers to tour Alaska, and you now ride BMW's?

Take that Triumph! Don't you want to post this in the "Beast" forum?

What went wrong? (If I may ask)

went wrong? Nothing...the deal was we were to borrow the Triumph's, could not make a good enough deal last year to keep them...so gave them back. After a year off the Tigers....we are now ready for new bikes. We have Jesse luggage we love and it is going on the new Beemers. Saves us $4000. We are used to the BMW's, and the for the cost you get more we think. The Tiger is way more street comfy don't get me started on the BMW plank seat but in the end, we like the 3 year warranty and have some accessories that can be used on the F800GS.

The Tiger is a great bike but we just did not feel it when it came to laying down the money we need when buying 2 bikes. That's it...personal preference at this point in our lives.

Triumph "loaned" you two Tigers and you couldn't make a deal good enough to keep them? How "good" does a "deal" have to be? Why would Triumph lend you two Tigers? Are you authors? I read your RR, but are you making a film? Funny how you both do the same thing when it comes to ditching the Triumphs? Just find it bizarre. If ANY manufacturer was to "loan" me one of their bikes for a "free" journey to Alaska, I'd bloody well thank them by buying their product, and standing behind it. Your creditability suffers. Badly.
