a small pick/screwdriver and push one end of the circlip *down* works well.

Thanks for that tip on just pushing down on the circlcip, yesterday I spent half an hr with an extra set of hands holding the cap down while I traded pliers, hooks, screw drivers anything I could to try and grab the circlip or prise it out with no success.

Just pushing down on the circlip while holding the plug all the way down turned my 10mm spacer install into a 5 minute per leg one man job.

I imagined there was a lot more of that circlip hidden in the groove, hard imagine such a tiny little ring holding it together.

Just for info I installed the same 10mm compression spacer I had in my G650GS Serato. Which is just a cheap easy readily available spacer that comes in 5mm, 10mm, 20mm ready made pieces, they are the 1 1/8" Alloy push bike head stem spacers. I'm 105kg so until I decide if I'll do suspension up this should get me through, it is working good enough for now.

Setting up my new 700 for a bit of Adventure Touring

Has anyone fabricated an over dash GPS mount, I am surprised the only over dash type of bar you seem to be able to buy is a when it's a windscreen mountinging bracket.
