Someone should go back and read my first reply as to the Bordone Ferrari press release back a few months ago...

One china plate does not a (ming) dynasty make.

No i don't think so, theese was written by our inmate Ludo about the 690 rally bikes because the bikes had a lot of power ( factory up to 730 ccm and up to 80 hp. ) and shure more weight as the new KTM 450 rally bikes.

KTM 450 rally factory bikes are for shure not much heavier as the new Honda bikes ( with full ).
And a trellis frame is the state of the art in the motorcycle world art since years, not only for off road bikes, have a look to Ducati.

I will bet, now we see the first day a nice red bike at the finish line, at the end of the rally we will see the orange flag on the podium.

What "riders" said that then...? I'll bet no one being paid or getting supported from Mattighofen in any case...?

And as far as the 690 frame thing goes... yeah the 450 RR has a ladder frame, similar in design to that of it's 690 RR predecessor (or even 690 R production cousin) but that's where the resemblance finishes.

Despite everyones (most it seems) ambition to see the king toppled from the throne, fact is the 450 RR (and 690 RR before it for that matter) have got a fistfull of (allmost unbroken) victories as far back as 2007 (both the 690 RR and 450 RR won on debut) and the 450 RR has proven to be both more nimble (yet surprisingly stable at speed) due in no small part to it's ladder frame geometry, where so many other (enduro based) 450 rally bikes rely on the single or double cradle design of their contemporary production based chassis...

So I reckon it might be a bit premature to be tossing the design out the window... I think "Porky" is a long way from squealing "th..th...th...that's all folks..." just yet!

Not sure anyone is actively looking for KTM to be toppled as much as just wanting for someone else to reliably challenge for the overall, not just stage wins.

You'd be from the school of forward thinking sub sea level flatlanders that precicted 450cc Italian twin cylinder bikes would be ruling the deserts by now... huh?

Exactly!

I want the Daker to be unknown, not a foregone conclusion before the race has started!

It did, if only for a few stages, when a little 450 twin rolled up on some 654cc engines bikes, hell, even 730's

At least the engine didnt blow before the shockmount gave way, that would have been truly embarrasing

Yes the "Harley Davidson" hardtail experiment didn't go too well for Chaleco "Lowrider" did it?

Looks like aluminium (mostly)...

I can't see how it would be winning the "biggest loser weigh in" competition stakes...?

Lets see how all those welds hold over time, if the Sherco experience is anything to go by, the Honda could be the lightest bike to ever make the finish
