Got to hang out with JC at the bivouac for a while. Don't know if it was reported yet but Marc Coma had a bad crash and was helicoptered out.

Seriously Tom, come to Peru! I can set everything up for you cheap! At the very hotel in Lima where my team and Lyndon Poskitt's will be.

Heck, you can even ride in our 4X4 down the coast for the first 4 days of the Rally (as far as Camana, Peru)

Or, if you have more time, I have a 400cc bike that needs to be driven from Lima back to Cuzco (first following the Dakar until it leaves Peru, then up the Colca Canyon and over the top to the Inca capitol).

The worst part is not the sporadic WiFi bit swatting the dammed flies that are so persistent.

Yes Charapa, I am interested. Just need to get back from Morocco first as I have been on the road for six months.

Last Year I was able to chat with him a bit on the start line of the Taft GP before we all took off. He is super nice guy. I asked him about Dakar and riding along with Robbie. He said it was a blast.

Of course he won the 30+ race.....the guy is seriously fast. Not sure how many times he passed me

Just saw this (figured since Helder stopped first to assist it was ok in this thread ):

Coma crashed on the 221-mile stage between Erfoud and Zagora and was taken to hospital in Errachidia. He will return to Spain tomorrow, according to his Red Bull KTM team. Coma was second in the overall standings after the first two stages of the event.
Honda's Helder Rodrigues, who was riding behind Coma at the time of the crash, stopped and assisted his injured rival until Coma's teammate Joan Pedrero arrived on the scene.
Once Coma was airlifted from the scene, Pedrero was able to continue his race, though he would lose more time due to a navigational error.
Todays' stage was won by Paulo Goncalves over Rodrigues with Chaleco Lopez third.
Rodrigues leads the overall standings by a tick over 11 minutes from KTM's Cyril Despres.
I wonder if that'll heal quickly enough for Dakar?

Johnny is a really genuine guy. I think he was surprised there was another American around. But he just spoke for quite a while about his new job as the waterboy for Dakar, riding with Robbie in the last one and how at age 41 he just can't ride that fast anymore. Ha! Wish I could ride half his speed!
