Also route Planning help is appreciated

Put this together randomly, figured we would get down to Fussen quickly and maximize time in the mountains

Yes. Here's a hotel site that I use frequently. http://www.booking.com/region/it/bor...:ap1t1:neg;ws=

If you get down towards Lake Como stop and see the Moto Guzzi Museum. It's only open from 3-4pm M-F, but some really cool stuff. I just got back from a 2 1/2 week trip, frankly I wasn't impressed with Italy.

OK. Quick trip but if you have any wiggle room on the way back, think about going west toward Freiburg. East of there you'll find highway 500 that goes to Baden-Baden. Beautiful scenery and fun riding. Also, again if time permits, one of my fave locations is the Julier Pass out of St. Moritz that takes you to Chur. Nice sweepers. Bon voyage!

I'll be between Freiburg and Stuttgart in a couple weeks for work. I'm thinking about renting a bike for a weekend??? Any sugestions? Lake Como sounds like a good destination, is that doable in a weekend? Thanks in advance!

I rented a Triumph Explorer from the Triumph shop in Stuttgart about a month ago, they have a few other bikes too and all in good shape.

The other places in Stuttgart had some pretty shitty looking bikes, except Stadler, they had a couple nice ones as well

I hear Munich has more and better selection

(if that was what you were asking)

It is holiday season, but the capacity in any skiing area is way beyond the summer traffic. So you can just pick one on a whim.

I am right now at a very motorcycle friendly place about an hour or so away from Stelvio that I can recommend. Very nice and affordable, I pay €35 for a double room/single occupancy incl breakfast. A 3 course dinner is €10. http://www.fernblick.com/en/ Even got a pool!

I´ve been in the area last year, we had a room in a small hotel in a village called San Valentino. Its just south of the border to austria, about 15km away from the northern ramp of the stelvio. I cant remember the name of the hotel, but it had a big "bikers welcome" sign next to the road (thats the SS40) and we had our bikes parked in an locked garage in the basement. nice owners!!

I did Stelvio today, and my hotel was further away than I thought - almost two hours. But I would still recommend the place, much better riding in this area. Stelvio did not impress me that much, 48 hairpin curves and heavy traffic, even on a Monday. And the 75 km in local traffic from/to Merano to the start on the East side did not help. For pure riding pleasure, look elsewhere. But I guess it is a been there, done that, got the t-shirt kind of thing.

I noticed a sign for one of those BMW test centers nearby. These are hotels who cooperate with BMW to rent bikes, Stay at the hotel, take a different bike out every day. You might want to look into that.

I stayed in the Hotel Nazionale in Bormio a few years back. On your left when you just start getting into the town on the main road from Stelvio. Nothing spectacular, but not bad, either. Good bike parking - somewhat hidden.

I had three nights at Hotel Reipertinger Hof in Bruneck/Brunico. First class, very motorcycle friendly.
