Feh, helmets are for pussies! Real men take that shit right in the face and don't whine about it, for they know that chicks dig scars.

Lucky it wasn't a bigger deal. You might consider a polycarbonate windshield next time over an acrylic one...

From the calsci website:
Quote:
...acrylic shatters upon impact, and therefore is considered an unsafe material for windshields...
We use a special high cost acrylic called Impact Modified Acrylic
I've read and seen videos that even the special stuff shatters... just not as easily.

***edit*** before I sound too preachy - I run an acrylic on the Harley... It was $60 vs $200 and apparently, I'm a cheapass

I was going about 40mph and bird hit right in helmet, came very close to knocking me clear off the bike. Face shield disappeared with the bird as they flew into street together

Coming home from Florence (Italy), just after tanking up the super tenere, just just after slapping my visor down and peeling out of the gas station, I took a pigeon square in the forehead at about 50/60 mph. Not pleasant! Of course, even less so for the pigeon!

If I remember the story correctly about half of the bird ended up in the driver's lap.

Bird Collisions

Since they fly into things all the time you now know where the term "Bird Brain" as a description for idiocy came from. I had a bird hit my windshield once as I was approaching an overpass. It zoomed down at the last second like it was intending to commit suicide.

I had an owl try to nab the headlight off my cage once! He rolled up the hood, got stuck on the wiper arm, rolled up off the windscreen and flew into a tree probably wondering what the fuck kind of dragon he just hit. Even though birds likely don't know what they're getting into until it's much, much too late, I swear they are passing time by betting each other how close they can buzz the grilles of passing cars HALO style. They also bet on well-placed shits.

40 points if you make it through the underside of a passing semi trailer.

their brethren will either fear the approaching sounds of your motorcycle, or you're in for some more kamikaze dive-bombing.

That bird probably didn't have his daytime running lights on, did it?
