Danny,
Great to see you still alive.

I will be down at Alice from the 20th for about five days, come out and say hi on Sunday and we can go for a run up the hill, keen to see the WR.

Home still recovering from the last Op to remove the Hardware but I feel pretty good.

G'Day Mick,

Is the leg still playing up, hope it is just about sorted?

Not sure what I am up to over the next couple of weeks with a new little one in the house but I will try to head up and say G'Day.

I see you have an all BM stable now, have you been tempted by the 800 yet?

Cheers,

Danny

G'Day Andrew,

Yeah, business can be a bugger somedays but I enjoy what I do which helps. Spending time with the little ones is a big priority for me too so bike riding tends to rank a bit further down the ladder than it used to. I still seem to get out on the bike but there isn't as much time to write about it these days.

Cheers,

Danny

Danny,
My leg has hopefully had the last Op until I get the joint replaced in ten or so years. The last Op was to remove the internal metal work and the 30 odd pins. I got a weeks ride in before the Op so it was as good as I could get it I suppose. Now, 4 weeks later I am full weight bearing and walking without an aid. Planning a ride next month down through Spirabo and Mt Hyland, similar to the one we did a few years ago.

Yes, the XC is a great little bike and very reliable and light unlike one of my previous bikes we often spoke at length about. I should have listened you.

Anyway, hope to see you at Alice, we may be camping on the Northern side of the road, up the sand hill and along the big flat near the broadwater. I have a white Courier Ute and a white Prado.

I will have my mobile.

Dirt Bagz

Hi Danny,
I know you haven't had your DRZ for a long time but can you tell me how the Dirt Bagz compare to Andyz Panniers

G'Day Paul,

The drit bagz are great. I used mine plenty and they always worked well. Fitting them to the Aussie DRZ takes a little bit of fiddling but it is a fairly straight forward process.

I haven't had any experience with the Andy Strapz panniers so I can't comment there but I have seen some of his other products in action and they are very good.

Cheers,

Danny

Dirt Bagz

Thanks Danny,
I like the look of the Dirt Bagz but I needed to know if they would stand up to some punishment. I figured you would have put them through there paces.

Hey Danny, here's a pic of your old DR on top of Big Red a couple of weeks ago. You did an awesome job of setting that thing up and I've added my personal touches to make it the perfect long distance tourer, cheers man!

G'Day Bob,

Thanks for the photo. I had always hoped to do a Simpson crossing with the DR so I am happy to see it is in good hands.

Cheers,

Danny

The GiantLoop bag being developed in the Vendors forum by one of the inmates looks great, too.

Time for a bit of a photo update.

The WR is gone. As great a bike as it is on a flowing twin trail, it seemed to take great pleasure in ploughing me into terra firma at every opportunity. Yes, I know a good tradesman never blames his tools but I have never claimed to be a good tradesman so it had to go. In a love / hate relationship, I managed to do things on it that I previously hadn't thought possible but I also managed to drop it in more mysterious ways than any other bike I have ever owned . In the end, I couldn't shake the feeling that it was trying to hurt me so I let it go to a better home (quasi-race bikes with 50+rwhp can be temperemental beasts )

I showed the little man these photo's one day to which he replied "but they are only little jumps Dad". I admit it was a mistake taking him to see Chad Reed at the supercross before he turned two but I still wan't expecting this kind of blatant honesty .

Meanwhile, having purged myself of temptation and redeeming myself with Mr Suzuki, the DL650 has been a fantastic bike. While it may look tame in it's road orientated fairing, it pulls an awesome slide on a dirt road and the sound of the Staintune rumbling in the background is enough to make you turn right at the roundabout on the way to work instead of left. Right takes you places like this .

For whataver reason, it agrees with me and I feel compelled to get out more regularly.

Did a couple of days on the V-Strom last weekend seeing the countryside and working out its limits in the dirt.

Approaching the beach, I wasn't real sure how it would handle the loose entry but it passed with flying colours (and sand).

Mucking around on a deserted beach at low tide is hard to beat.

It would appear as though this trip didn't end as well .

From there we headed south along the coastal ranges.

Before heading inland towards Dorrigo.

Recent rains made for slick moss covered fire trails but the views at the end were well worth the effort.
