That 200 is going to do nothing more than "out smoke" everything up there. That is unless you got around to doing a top end on it!

Just when I thought I had the ultimate single track weapon (my KTM 300), Rich comes along with a sweet ultralight 200!!

No cell coverage up there. If you rode/drove out to Chimney peak area to the top of nine-mile canyon road you might get a signal from Ridgecrest. Even at the look out on Bald Mt. you can get bars but calls won't go through, it's too far. Bald Mt. does have a land line or internet I believe. You might find a ranger at Blackrock.

And with the ranger station closed it is hard to summon help. You just have to plan to be self sufficient. Have spares and tools and be prepared to spend the night trailside if necessary. Carry water and emergency food. It can be a long hike out from some of the trails. Rattlesnake Creek trail goes out 15 miles with no other way to get back other than ride back out. If you break out near the end it's a day's walk out. On a busy weekend there are plenty of riders out, but if you break late in the day and everybody has headed back to camp you could be left on your own. For this reason alone, never ride solo out there.
Thanks for the information.

FYI - meant like noob for Kennedy Meadows, not really a noob to riding, especially trail/mtn/dez

I carry enough tools to perform a field overhaul on a bike.

Water, GPS, and SPOT are mandatory when I ride.

Nice! And suspension too! I love my new Beta. Sorry I won't be able to make this KM trip…. I posted in RF breakfast club for a Sat night ride this weekend. Hopefully someone would like to go for it with me.

Happy for you and your 200 Kenny!

We are going up there for street riding the 18th-19th. I have a report today that there is much sand on the road even down to Kernville.
I will find out Saturday.

Heck yes they are! get them a KX65 and KX100 with 10oz flywheel weights. Lowering link for the 100. That's what I did when I had the step kids. The connector trail and jeep trails are good for the kids

Sure they are. Best time to start is NOW!

I was riding up there at 7 yo on an MR50.
Mahogany to Bald Mtn lookout, Jackass (the original), Monache, Albanita (parts), Broder (the original ),...
Heck, even did Wild Rose (from the real KM) out to South Fork and back. Any of you FF's remember that?

Had to wait until ~11 yo on a YZ80 to do the tougher stuff.
Woodpecker, Dark Canyon, Sirretta, Rattlesnake, Bonita, Stoney, Ossa's, and all the way thru Wild Rose to Monache.
