1 Triumph, 1 Brit. 20,000 Miles, The Long Way Home
In April 2013, I am planning to Circumnavigate the Globe on my Triumph Scrambler I am riding the long way home from the East Coast of America via 12 countries back to London. I will travel through USA Canada Siberia Russia Mongolia Kazakhstan Ukraine Slovakia Czech Republic Germany Belgium And finally the UK Over the next 8/9 months I will be furiously planning and preparing myself for this gigantic expedition You will be able to follow my progress at I will be using this platform to raise awareness for a great cause such as War Child or UNICEF (tbc) There will be numerous ‘milestone’ parties during the preparation stage, so I hope you can all be there to show your support |

I´m anxious to see the preps on yer Scrambler, as it´ll be a tuff travel so the bike has to be well prepared for this.
Good luck&have fun! Greetz, Hans.

I am upgrading the suspension (both front and Back) and the tires. Full strip and rebuild of the motor, this way I can learn the basic ropes of mechanics. Panniers are from Metal Mule, with some other mods upfront to to keep wind off the body and hands. |

What a great journey. This Scrambler owner will most definitely be following along too to see how long distance on a Scram is done.

Preparing My Triumph Scrambler for RTW
Tina (The name of my Scrambler): Hello Paul
Paul: Hello Tina, so I want to take back home to London, via Siberia, the BAM Road, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and few other places. Up for it? Tina: No, F'ck Off Paul: Wait! What? Why? Tina: Look at me, I’m overweight, I’m really not sure I’m built for such shenanigans, I can and do make you look good in Manhattan. Paul: Well this isn't an adventure for no reason. Lets get you some glad rags and handbags. So begins the task of outfitting Tina the Triumph ready for the road. This is what I have outlined so far Wheels: Alpina Wheels, these will allow me to run tubeless and they are infinitely stronger than my current ones! definitley the best around for my bike, ![]() Tires: Knobblies (Continental TKC80 Tyre) ![]() Road Tires (Pirelli Scorpions) ![]() Panniers: Metal Mule ![]() Handguards: Triumph Tiger 1050’s ![]() Rear Suspension: Ohlins S36PR1C1LB ![]() Front Suspension: Bitubo Cartridge ![]() In addition: 19T Sprocket Fly Screen Power Outlets Red Jerry Cans for range (the current 120m will not suffice) Ortileb Soft Luggage Garmin 665 GPS (this looks to be discontinued, so waiting out for a potential replacement) Let me know your thoughts and ideas, anything I have missed? |
