It occurs to me that you may have taken what I wrote as MY thoughts and not what I would imagine these young guns were thinking (you did ask "what are THEY thinking"). As someone who is rapidly approaching "old fart" status, I certainly can't call anyone else out for aging.
Sorry if you took me wrong, you know, it's hard to tell over the net.

Well, the 390 beretta handle was chosen because I won the AZ sporting clays championship twice; in 93 and again in 2005 shooting a 390 beretta shotgun. Simple. I'm not bailing totally, just tired of some of the "shallow and asinine" thinking that some on this forum exhibit. No disrespect to those who don't. And I don't classify "shallow and asinine" to those who don't agree with me. I might reference the member who suggested "tossing coins into the air to stop tailgaiting" as an example, in response to another of my posts.

Just ignore the white noise. Some moderators call the perfect line, "the perfect dumping ground". Fits doesn't it?

Personally, I could care less about someones safety that does stupid crap like that. If they kill themselves, TFB. Just don't take an innocent victim with them. I've almost been taken out by pricks like that.
For all you "stay out of my business" types, it's stupid people like that that put a bad light on motorcycles to the non cycling world. Oh yeah, it's all about freedom, or is it freedumb?

Wow, congratulations! Was it at the Ben Avery range?

Got a serious question for you. I never was able to hit diddly at 16 yd. trap. After a few years and a few different barrels, my best was a crummy 21--usually ~14. Read books, tried 7 1/2 and 8 shot, no good.

But I noticed something. Sometimes I'd get lucky and a single pellet would knock a tiny chip off the clay. Others I hit would just disappear in smoke. But the guys who could do 25, 50, and 100 straight always seemed to have their clays break into many pieces, but not smoke them. They would break into a nice pattern almost like an aerial firework-every time.

Why the big difference?

That's better than ball bearings like some other idiot suggested in another thread...

Benesesso, Damned if I can tell you! I'm not very good at Trap. Most of those who shoot it are "constipated" mentally and physically, very regimented and controlling in their attitudes and "old", like me Skeet shooters are little better in my opinion.....everything is regimented, targets in the same place all the time, etc.

Sporting Clays, on the other hand, and FITASC in particular demand true shooting skills with a shotgun. I took it up twenty some years ago because I'd walk all damn day, get plenty of shots at quail and if I was lucky, bring home two. Mostly due to my Labrador. What I can tell you is: Gun fit is very important, learning to "mount" the gun correctly every time is very important. If you're competing: Target management is important, which of a double do you shoot first; foot position (and changing between shots if needed is important. Proper practice is important: Practice doesn't make perfect.....perfect practice makes perfect. Most people use chokes that are too tight. Most Americans seem to subscribe to the idea that if they spend enough money on equipment, the right gun, right chokes etc. etc. they'll be "good" at whatever. Few are willing to put the time and effort into actually getting good. This isn't the proper forum for me to go on too long but if you would like some additional help/ideas, pm me. Best Wishes!

Huh? I'm a real noob here. Did I break forum rules by posting factual information? Is there a FAQ that explains all this?

I'm no psychologist but I think this nails it. And regardless of the consequences to themselves, they just don't give a shit about anybody else. These kids on the sport bikes doing twice the speed limit in town were probably mowing down pedestrians on their skateboards just a couple years ago. Don't get me started. -al

If I started a thread every time I saw some idiots doing stupid shit on their bikes while under-geared I'd have double my post count. It happens all too frequently and is a big part of the reason why bikes are statistically so dangerous.

Insurance for young riders is expensive for a reason.

I wasn't directed entirely at you but I see your post was not your thoughts but the squids...

PS: I don't fish...

Beretta, most of us are old farts and have been riding forever, so don't take offense. Like you, I am put off by hooligans, but not enough to post about it. I must admit, though, going triple digits on Cave Creek around T'bird is a very bad thing.

Triple digits on Shea is just as bad!

Congrats on your shooting victories. I admire people who can shoot. I wish I was better at it. In flight school in 1968 I fired 'Expert' with a 38. Turns out the guy next to me was shooting at my target and between the two of us, I shot Expert! I wore that medal with pride for a long time.

Meanwhile, the other guy flunked.

A better question would be when will they get the idea that they can die.

I have a distinct impression that the ADVrider community is ALL old farts.
Tiny-tiny exceptions confirm the rule.

Did you notice, nobody asked what kind of dirt bike is a K75?
