According to Husqvarna Australia's Joerg Hoffmann, "The Husqvarna TR650 should be priced similar if not slightly less than the BMW models"

One morning in the Husqvarna (BMW) advertising/marketing boardroom...

the "ponytails" were sitting around having a meeting;

10:00 AM

Ponytail #1: "Hey fella's, why don't we axe that expensive to manufacture, high performance based power plant from the old TE model range... and base a new bike around the same old proven donk that that has been 'around for ages and the mother company has paid off all the R&D costs for - at least 10 years ago. We can dress it up in a new make over that reflects the sporting blood of our newly acquired Italian trademark, but doesn't make the mother companies offering look totally obselete. At the same time we can price it in a way that maximises our profit, by using lower (than our present offering) standard of performance componentry and decreased manufacturing overheads... yet doesn't undercut our mother companies product so much as to effect their sales to the trademark blind marketplace of their goose stepping established customer base! Whaddya' say guy's...???!!!"

Ponytail #2: " That sounds like a great idea... it should keep us all in jobs for another couple of years at least... and the only ones that take it in the arse, are the poor lemmings out there in the desolate and forgotten adventure marketplace waiting for a dirt worthy 650cc single cylinder off road motorcycle...!"

10:02 AM

The Board: "Motion carried... now let's go to ther Red Lobster sallad bar for some frosty daquiri's and a long lunch... shall we!"

One thing i did observe is you orange blokes seem to bolt a lot of necessary adventure gear onto them.
Is this to give those with heavier bikes a chance?

On a plus side i have seen one local editorial that has got the new 650 at 5 kg heavier than the 630.It will be as light as a 690 by the time it hits our shores

Yeah,
Well I heard it is no heavier than a 450 but has the power of a 900
It can climb Mt Everest on a single tank
And has a special function where if you press a secret hidden button it will locate the nearest pub and go and collect a six-pack for you, all on autopilot... (optional extra)...

Nice post troy

The new bikes may very well be great bikes. And honestly a lot of people would be really happy with them. I do think they should have kept the 630 in production s well as bring these out.

I wont be trading the 630 in on one

Lets hope the new ones have better quality control ,pre delivery checks, than the poor old 630. Warranty must be costing husky oz some $$$

I'm not aware of any problems like that. Mine has been great. MY KLR650 burned 1l of oil every 1000k from new And YZF600 blew the gearbox at 6000k

Warranty work must be hitting PFG very hard this past couple of years, hopefully QC will have improved a lot with this model.
