as per a few posts back:

TR 650 Terra without ABS, unladen weight: 165 kg (363,76 lbs) / weight fully fuelled: 183 kg

it's still heavier than a DR650 but felt comparable, it feels like the weight is kept pretty low on the bike. dealer agreed, said the rotax engine is over built to buggery with a huge big end etc, part of what gives the rotax its longevity. tend not to trust dealer-speak but seems to be backed up on what i've read on forums... if you wanna trust forum-speak.

Thumb

Dry weights:

Tenere 184kg

F800GS 178kg

Terra 165kg

DR 145kg

Terra sits in the middle but has approx 11 and 13hp more than the Tenere and DR.

The Terra also has Marzzochi USDs, not the Chinese pretzel that looks like forks on the Sertai!!

BMW should have addressed the fork issue on that bike, the front end is the same junk the Dakar had, it can be sorted to work but you always worry whether its going to fold up on you: I had one with no issues but have seen a couple of broken ones!!

Terra rocks!!

..and the Pegaso Strada & Trail are virtually twins of the Husky, just seem
to have a comfier seat. Same basic idea behind them and same weight.
I have been ADVing an Aprilia Pegaso Trail for approx 5 years. It does have it's limitations, but I reckon the Terra is going to be a better adv base and a good thing relatively speaking. Has more suspension travel and better ground clearance than the Peg, 21/17 wheel set compared to 19/17, (I did put a 21/18 wheel set on though) and these are the main limitations of the Peg.

Happy trails to the new Terra owners and I look forward to following how they go.

Don't want to hijack the thread.. but.. did you have any reliability issues
with your Trail? People here seem to have all sorts of issues with theirs.

Pegaso

That is strange - mine has been totally reliable for 50k kms, and I haven't heard of many issues on the AF1 forum. Just one loose ignition switch wire. Motor (same as the Tenere) has had no issues and valves still in spec at last service. Mine was never babied and has been places off-road well beyond it's design brief, as well as my daily commuter.

Now back to the regular Terra broadcast

My Terra test ride impressions in this thread. (Page 85 ish)

It might be worth checking carefully about LAMs before you take delivery as well (explained in my story).

I am very new at this. My first thoughts are that this sounds like one of those 2003 silver 640 hand grenades
