Who would know until someone tries?

And then at least 5 or 10 people try etc etc etc.

Seem common on the 630

I have heard of a couple of te630's eating steering head bearings. 1 I know of has had 3 sets in under 10 oooks, and I know that one for sure. The others are just hearsay.

I like the sound of this bike, it would be great to see other manufactures have a crack at this market

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"

Just "emptied" the first full tank 283 k's till the light came on.

Pulling some you beaut mono's and I am shit at 'em despite years of practice.

Pick it up on the throttle in first, through second no probs, into third it drops gently down. Nothing but good things to say - cant stop grinning.

That's pretty good Davo, how much is in reserve, or is it just an empty light before it stops?

that sounds like seriously good range from a 14L tank, davo. the US owners have been saying it's very economical and that sort of mileage means i wouldn't be looking at safarit tank with the rides we do.

did you find out how much was left when the light came on, around two litres as usual?

trouble keeping it up in third sounds about right... the DR650 is about 20kg lighter and would mono fine in third (standard gearing) but very difficult in fourth without sacrifices to the gods of levitation.

My 630's economy deteriorated markedly after run in, due to being able to use full throttle and addition of JD EFI kit. On its best day I'd be very lucky to get 200kms from it's 12 litres, & that'd be moderate throttle & open cruising. I have hit reserve (10 of 12 litres) as low as 140kms.

Rus

Bit of a design fault on the 630.Just replace the bearings and it'll happen again.
The slot isn't needed for the steering lock on the te so i'm guessing the triples are left overs from another model.Probably fill the slot and run a couple of plugs to stop anything entering.

Does the terra run the same setup?

Pop along to Clark Rubber and find a rubber plug that fits the top.
