Breakfast Anyone?

Yesterday, I suggested to my beloved ScooterChick with a disreputable look on my face that we go to Whistler for breakfast today.

Having discovered the joys of "throttle-twisting-toothy grinned" 2 wheel freedom, she was quick to agree that a jaunt to SkiTown was just the ticket. We saddled up before it got too warm and prepared to head north.

Here's the Chick preparing to mount her trusty steed "Miss Vicky"

Since we are both ATGATT'ers, at least in the highway sense we wanted to head out ahead of the heat.

Riding North out of Squamish, after adding a splash of gas to both bikes, we starrted climbing uphill. Since Squamish is at sea level and Whistler Village is at 2,000' elev. it's a steady climb.

Along the way we pass the Tantalus Range with peaks to about 8,500' The snowy peaks glisten in the early morning (oops more like 10:30 a.m.) light. We continue in a Whistlerly direction.

We pass through the Cheakamus canyon, until we come to Daisy lake and the dam which impounds it.

They're spilling quite a lot of meltwater at this time of year. No swimming...it's about 34F.

Here's a picture of the lake itself. Notice the lovely greenish colour.....yeah that means your bits will disappear if you venture in.
I call this picture. "Lonely, I'm Mister lonely."

We arrived at our destination Dirk and Bernie's which we had checked for reviews yesterday evening. It was rated #1, and in no way disappointed. I ordered the Tofino omelette (stuffed with Avocado, Shrimp, and Cheese) and ScooterChick ordered a
Hot Potato omelette (loaded with potato, cheese and some hot spices). Both came with excellent Multigrain Toast, and fairly decent Galileo coffee.

Here are a couple pictures from our breakfast table.

This is one wing of the Chateau Whistler Hotel.

This is looking towards Whistler Mountain.

Having filled our bellies on good chow, we decided to head home. The temperature had by this time risen to 92F. Time for some breeze past the knees!!!

We stopped by the river to catch the cool breeze. Doesn't the ScooterChick look cool, and somewhat breezy!

The obligatory "Scooters in the Sun picture".

We stopped at the viewpoint for a homeward picture. You can see the Cheakamus River below and the head of Howe Sound in the distance, a quick roll downhill. We were ready for cool shower by the time we got back home.

What a ride!!!

You certainly do have some great scenery up there. I'll have to add it to my list of places I need to ride some day.

Hey Ben:
You're welcome any time. We are also on the Tent List. Even if you have your scooter shipped to Seattle and fly in to ride up!!
