I'm that guy, I'm game for some fast paced sandy big bike fun as soon as it cools off a little. I'm riding to the KTM rally in a few weeks but after that it should be nicer in the desert.

Laugh Flash Floods 30AUG12

Yesterday afternoon we had flash floods in the high desert just before I got off work. This is what my GS looked like after riding 12 miles on Route 66. If I'd been driving the car I would have been stuck - like dozens of other commuters and a CHP patrol car...

Oh no you di'int. You'll for sure be thrown out of the GS club now and have your life time BMW membership revoked.

I would remove this pic ASAP, before someone else sees it.

You should have seen the rut I left in the mud/sand! It took a grader and dozer working together to remove it and get down to the tarmac.

Got some good practice this weekend ... rode from Adelanto to Kramer Junction on some dirt roads and jeep tracks, then went up and rode the aqueduct/powerline rode above Olancha to Lone Pine on my way to Mammoth. Lots of riding all over Mammoth/Bishop too; Coyiote Flats, Silver Canyon, Wyman Canyon and the silt roads from hell north of Hwy 120 going to Bodie, Picked up a lot of bikes the last few days.

WMRS Big Bike Ride

Ride report coming soon for a WMRS Big Bike weekend, tired and have to get ready to go to FL for the week. Here is a little teaser:

Got to Brown's Campground below Mammoth Thurs afternoon and didn't see anybody. So I went fishing with a guy named Wesley from Bakersfield. Caught my limit in about 20 mins and sent them off with Wesley who needed dinner ... here's Wesley after I gave him the fish.

We rode all over the place, here is me and browneye before heading up to Coyote Flats

On Sunday a group of 4 GSA's, 1 GS, 1 KLR and 1 Huskty 630 headed up Silver Canyon and on to WMRS. Here is everybody at the top of Silver Canyon (photo by Fudgy)

He took a spill coming up Silver Canyon and either hit his bike or the ground. He was okay, just a little bloody and a fat lip.

Trail to Coyote Flats here. We had fantastic riding up there, put over 500 miles on the husky.

no john, what really happened was this....
there was this stroller carreening down silver canyon
in the stroller was a 3 month old curley blond child
oh ya, and a puppy, not sure what breed
and just before all went over the side
i raced over, jumped off the bike and stopped it just before it went over the side
down the canyon to their ultimate doom
child and puppy happily reunited with a tearful greatful mother
i turn to walk back to my trusty klr
and trip on my darn shoe lace

you know, you just can't make things like that up
