Can't wait for everyone to see it, there's no way to accurately describe it with words.

Glad you're back home safe Jack.

After getting over to Breckenridge we got caught again in another storm, this time in Silverthorne. We rode the rest of the trail to Kremmling in the rain and stayed at the Allington Inn, nice place. We took some chairs behind the hotel and had a couple cold ones and sampled some of Bob's Maker's Mark. We were having a good time until around 10 o'clock when the nice women at the hotel made us go to our rooms.

The next morning we where headed for Rawlins WY, looking forward to seeing Wyoming but man I hate to say goodbye to Colorado. First we had to gas up in Kremmling before heading out.

One thing about the riders in our group, although the rest of us did have brief shows of daring speed for the most part Patrick and Steve were the guys out front. No matter the terrain or road conditions Steve mastered them all, I was starting to think he didn't have a weakness. But then I think I found it............gas stations.

But in his defense, he may have been distracted by the gas station sign.

On the way out we passed by Gore Canyon.

See the railroad tunnel?

Happy Jack

Went through another pass, going up this one was a little hairy. Narrow, off camber road with steep drops off that looked like they never stopped. Once we all got to the top everyone was ready for a break.

I loved riding through the Aspens, another first for me.

Bob told me all the scarring on the Aspens was from the Elk chewing on them. The man knows his stuff, he also taught me how to make oatmeal in a Solo cup.

The next order of business was mud, slick mud. Jack outsmarted everybody and just chose not to ride in it. Brilliant!

With that area being open range there were plenty of cattle and apparently their favorite place to do their business is in the road. The mud transformed into a mud/cow crap mixture that was mostly cow crap. My GPS is still not working and I'm riding in the back behind Bob because I'm thinking this stuff is so slick he's going to need help picking up his heavy GS, which never happened by the way. Anyway we are tip toeing through this muddy cow crap and it's baking onto the header pipes, getting all over our boots, and covering the underside of the bikes, definitely something I would not want to do again. BUT.......when me and Bob finally get through it we see the rest of the group and they are coming towards us, seems we're now off track and must have missed a road before the muddy cow crap so we turn around and ride through it again. Amazingly we get through this mess again without landing in it but the bikes definitely have a heavier coating of this delightful mix. Still not believing we had to ride through that stuff twice we see the rest of the guys ahead talking to some locals on quads. They learn the road we're looking for no longer exists and the road we've been on is the new road................so you guessed it we turned around and rode through the mess again for the third time.

Next up is the water crossing everyone was concerned about.

Jack had no issues.

Bob had no issues.

Steve had no issues.

I had no issues, other than Scotty cutting my head off.

it was hunting season when i went through and the hunter's 4x4 trucks had churned the roads into frightful shape after three days of rain. lordy, i didn't think i would ever get out of there. plus, dropped the bike in the mud for added fun.

guys say they can do the CDR on a cruiser with street tires, but anyone seeing your photos can draw their own conclusions.

keep those photos coming.

Day 6 cont. Onward to Rawlins WY

Leaving Colorado.

Bob blasting through the Aspens

Some parting shots of Colorado

Yours truly rolling through Aspen Alley.

My first Antelope, not good shots but the only ones I have.

After going through Aspen Alley we find ourselves on 71, it's basically riding all day at 60 mph on non-stop washboard across terrain like this.

This road will test every loc-tited bolt on your bike. I had several bags of peppered deer jerky in my kayak bag. By the end of the road small holes had been worn through the bags and I had about half a cup of black pepper in the bottom of my kayak bag and my jerky was no longer peppery.

After many miles and several hours of riding and no sign of life at all we come to an abrupt stop, by all things a traffic light!

It eventually turned green and we rode more of this.

We arrive late in Rawlins hot and tired and camp at the KOA. Other than the view of townhouses and and the screaming drunk guy that woke everybody up at 4am it was a fine choice Jack.
