Happy Valentine's Day honey, I'm going for a ride!

Daytime temps in the 50s, nighttime temps above freezing? In February? Sorry honey, have a Happy Valentine's Day, but I'm going for a ride!

Los Three Amigos: met up with Tawzer and Ben in the metropolis of Millican, Oregon.

Perfect weather, perfect riding conditions! Headed south through the desert with no real agenda other than getting gas in Christmas Valley and ending up at Summer Lake by nightfall.

It was a darned near perfect day in the desert. Virtually no dust, amazing traction, and so warm we had to stop and shed layers after the first hour.

After a quick gas and food stop at Christmas Valley, we headed south and took the Diablo Rim Road to Paisley, Oregon, pushing the pace to get out of the remote canyon before dark.

Paisley overnight in the bunkhouse, then home via Summer Lake

Made it to Paisley before dark. Stayed in the bunkhouse behind the saloon.

Day Two: Paisley back to Bend

Sunday after breakfast at the Paisley Saloon, we packed and headed out the east side of the Summer Lake Basin. This is what the "road" looked like:

Epic! Really strange landscape with alkali and mineral deposits in the soil, mini dry lake bed "playas," green mud puddles with the slimiest, nastiest mud ever, sand dunes. Too cool.

We linked up some new routes and had a spectacular weekend in Oregon's high desert. Best Happy Valentine's Day present ever!

Cool. Love those desert landscapes. But, what I want to know is, after you took off on valentines day to ride, was the wife/girlfriend there when you came back?

Your pictures brought back so many fond memories of my youth growing up in Central Oregon. Gathered a lot of cattle in areas shown in your pictures. Thank you for the walk back in time:-)

It is spectacular country - you should come do some riding in your old stomping grounds!

A truly unique landscape:

Brad found this and tied it onto Ben's bike during a recent Death Valley trip - still enjoying the ride!

Excellent country to ride, Made part of that rout last year as my first adventure ride and boy was it an adventure. Our turnaround was Hart Mt hot springs. We are looking forward to that again this year.

I've camped at Hart Mtn. Hot Springs several times. Cool spot - although the mosquitos can be unbearable there during the summer!

Beautiful country and beautiful photos. Really makes me long for sun, blue skies, and temps above zero!
