Uggh - dang policies

I received an answer to my email this afternoon from Melissa H. Sanders, CSR, Uwharrie NF, Troy.

Sir, you cannot have alcohol at any of the developed campgrounds. The ones that you pay to camp at, or on any of the OHV or horse trails. If you disperse camp off of a trail or road, then you are allowed to have alcohol. If you have any more questions, please feel free to email or call me at the information below. Thank you and I hope you have a nice day.

This is conflicting with the policy that is posted on the West Morris Info station.

I find this interesting. I tend to propogate to national parks because alcohol and firearms are allowed. State parks are ruled by the nanny state though: no fun allowed.

The owners are in the BMWROK as mentioned and I see them regularly at meetings and on rides. They're definitely into riding and fun.

Well I'm going to have to relegate myself to a "maybe" at this point pending being in the state. Looks like I'm going back to work -> in western Kentucky. It's a pretty good chance I'm going so don't count on my participation from here on out for this one.

For me, being able to drink a beer or two around the campfire after a long days ride would be nice ... But, It's not a deal breaker for me. I think being able to hang out together and swap lies is more important. Just my .02

If the sign says alcohol allowed, then it is allowed.

Alcohol or not makes no difference to me. Hanging out and shooting the breeze is what it's all about. Now seeing some drunks make fools of themselves, that's just a bonus
