using the radar now app on the cell phone...

watching the radar, Isaac was circling and every time it looked like we were going to get hit it just shifted a little north instead of west as it was coming our way, we got about 50 mph winds and 24 hours of rain, power went out for a few hours but that was it. Just 25 miles or more east of us they had constant winds, very heavy rain and lost power for 2-3 days in some cases, so yes real lucky on this one as the rain was more of a factor than the wind comparing it to Katrina.

...but ironically it hit on the anniversary of Katrina and big parties were planned, which of course had to be cancelled

i'm heading to the Horizons Unlimited meeting in North Carolina...i'm on the panel of experts as they call it and then to the HU meeting in Toronto where i am a presenter

there are quiet a few people heading south this year around the same time so it will be a good chance to meet up and compare routes/ ideas etc

leaving in the morning and actually ready ahead of time and packed ready to go after being in Louisiana for two weeks, i did a neck bearing swap and the races as well as the old ones have 60,000 miles and showing some wear



put on a new rear tire, i use Kenda K270 and this rear has 9960 miles on it and still has 4mm of tread left, pretty good wear i would say?



i also switched from soft bags to hard bags for the rest of the trip, i used a one man tent with the soft bags as it packs down small, i have a new two man that on paper the dimensions are very similar, but it didn't look like it when it arrived



i did a test run to see it set up





once i took it down it packed very small




main objective is to get it into the Jesse Luggage and it fits

so the bike packed looks like this, so i can walk away with the tank bag converted to a back pack and not be concerned as its all locked down

i have the rotopax for just incase gas, most of the time they will be empty until i get into the mountains in central america



so its more time for adventure before dementia

so now time to head back out...there is a big world out there even though many people think you don't have to leave the country for adventure!!!

obviously i'm packed and have nothing to do right now, if it wasn't 3 in the afternoon i think i would leave
