interesting, seems the information on that website is geared towards US citizens. do you know if the new 3y multi entry visa exists for citizens of other countries as well?

from what i understand when i spoke with them, the new 3 year visa has to be applied for in your home country only, you also need an invitation but this company supplies it for $50...i would contact a visa company in your country and make them aware that you want a 3 year visa...its no that well known yet

Awesome! I lived in Trinidad for a couple years. My Dad has several of these bricks laid out on a sidewalk in Illinois! Great seeing pictures of places that I recognize!

here's Pat ready for his first ADV ride

left Trinidad with a clear blue sky

all good until 8.41am when i lifted my visor to scratch my nose and a wasp gets in and stings me twice!!! emergency stop by this building

then up into the mountains

the obligatory TAT church shot

right around that time the big dark clouds started to come in and we dodged rain most of the day but got a caught a few times, nothing major

then as the comedian Bill Engvall would say - here's your sign!!!

time to get to Trinidad and unload the bikes and get ready for tomorrow and the start

unloaded the bikes and here's proof that we're not lying on the beach in Hawaii (directed at wikedhdwifey) but actually in Trinidad...read the sign!!!

...but for now, got a room in the Trails End Motel ($49) and heading out now for some food a few beers and then a good nights sleep and the ride starts tomorrow come rain or shine

Great pics of Trinidad! Lived there for 2 years! Cool to see pictures of places I recognize. My Dad has several of the Trinidad bricks laid out in a sidewalk in Illinois! Did you get off to Bob and Earls! Just outside of town and Route 12! Best breakfast burritoes in the world!!

Paul, hope you don't have too many last minute hiccups and you are ready to go. This should be good.

He's off!

Ran into Paul at Overland Expo. He had a very interesting ride over from Las Vegas. I'll let him tell you guys about it.

Paul: Best of luck! Be well and post photos! See you on the other side!!

rolled out the bike all smiles ready to roll...

headed out in Vegas traffic and thru Boulder City into AZ

i was riding to Overland Expo at Mormon Lake and had arranged to me "kevinsinvegas" at an overlook...as i pulled in he wasn't there. I get off the bike and my boots have oil on them, 56 miles in to my RTW and i'm doing this

now some of you maybe saying turn around go back home and start the next day...the positive ones amongst us know this is when the adventure happens...i just wasn't expecting it to start this soon!!!

this is where fate kicks in...if you are positive

i had a split breather line coming off my cam cover, a line i had replaced with a cheap silicone hose...NOT the SAMCO ones i had just fitted, now i know this was junk and luckily the only one on the bike

as i'm sitting on the 105 degree ground a guy approached, asked if he could help? Only if you have some hoses in the trunk of your car, i reply?

"must be your lucky day" he said..."i'm a hose salesman, not high pressure hose like you need but i may have something to help you get back to a store and get something"

he gives me a length and takes off...i fix the issue and start putting the bike back together

as i'm doing this, i look up and i'm surrounded by Chinese people, one of them spoke very good English and asked if i was going away for the weekend, i told this is my first day of my RTW

"Are you going to China?"

No, too expensive, and difficult to do with your own bike, i explain to him

"Would you go if you were sponsored?"

sure i would but how would that happen?

"meet my friend he owns Discovery Channel China"

the conversation is translated and the guy smiles and nods and wants a photo with me

"How do we contact you?"

i tell him to use my website for contact info, he takes a photo of it on my fairing, then looks at Mr. Discovery, they talk and smile and looks at me

"We'll be in touch"

they leave the overlook and a few minutes later kevinsinvegas arrives

you WILL NOT believe what just happened!!!

then i follow kevins lead to overland with me riding along shaking my head and talking to myself in my helmet...did that just really happen on day 1
