The mobile phone operators will have offices pretty much everywhere in sizeable towns and cities. The 3 most common are MTS (МТС) , Beeline (Билайн), and Megaphone (Мегафон).

If your route takes you through Vladivostok or Habarovsk, you will most definitely get set there.

As a long distance rider there is nothing I hate more than having to be on a schedule, but right now I have no choice, I have a flight booked to Seoul, South Korea via a very short three-hour stopover in Japan

So it’s off to Vancouver, I was was offered a beer by Droptarotter a long time ago and now its time to collect…he meets me straight off the ferry that I came in from Nanaimo

Just four other bikes so I was easy to spot on my not so inconspicuous orange machine and he shows up on one of his HP2’s …I’m thinking he’ll never get out of first gear!!!

We skip downtown Vancouver as I was based there in the late 80’s and have good memories and I have been told more than once its not like it used to be, so I savor my memories and opt for finding the beer instead

I have a great time with droptarotter and his wife for the evening, collect on the beer offer and have some great conversation…this is what its all about, meeting amazing people as you ride around, these are the memories that last and the friendships that are made along the way

He offered to assist in the morning once my bike was crated and get me to the airport on time

My bike was being crated by Pacific Motorsports and Rusty the lead mechanic was great; all the guys their were super helpful in every way possible, I did the basic dismantle of the bike to make it fit and loaded the bike on the crate base…from a triumph

then its off to the airport

Say goodbye to Canada

Check my flight status…you see that direct flight to Seoul, my bikes on that one, me I’m on the one above it, to Tokyo first, so it’ll be in South Korea when I arrive

Goodbye North America, see you in ‘maybe’ four or five years

Now for the good karma moment…as we are taking off I look up and my flight attendant is on the phone and her name is Suzuki…does this mean there is a girl on Austrian Airlines called KTM, or would that be Katie M?

****NEWS FLASH****

i had arranged to meet two other riders in Zarubino, just confirmed now via email, one rider was coming in from Hungary, he couldn't get thru the Georgia/ Russia border and the second was called away on business to the Middle East, he is now back in the States but at least two weeks behind me, so chances of meeting are slim

this means its the Road of Bones and BAM road solo for me

No doubt, you will have many more by the end of that part of your road.

Go Paul, Go! Looking forward to the next "four or five" years of your report. You'll probably be the replacement for my morning "Radioman" routine! (And no, that's not a euphemism for anything other than reading Radioman's epic adventure!)

Hi Paul,

I'm glad I was able to meet you while I had the chance!

Nice to see that you are back to your grand adventures and I hope that they are "Mexico" drama free

I look forward to your updates, safe journeys.

Blair

I'm in South Korea now, got my bike yesterday, i'll do a full post later on the full details how to do it, get in and all the related costs and paperwork for you to be able to ride here

i collected my bike and had to ride across the city to my hosts place about 45km thru one of the biggest/ busiest cities in the world with a population of around 20-25,000,000 people...in friday afternoon rush hours traffic...lets just say it was entertaining!!!
