Oh, I see the CO plate now. Bummer you felt like you couldn't complete the ride. Was it hamstring related? (I am layed up with hamstring injury at the moment).

I'll write an addendum to Hogs and Dinos called "The Lone Duck". Ironically, it is the name of the campground I am based at for now.

I took a nice 100+ mile ride out around Eleven Mile Lake. Gorgeous day, but a little warmish.

My base.

Quite good brisket in Divide.

Out of Eleven Mile.

Magoo pace.

No, hammie is pretty good. A case of too new on loose slopes and real noob on loaded bike. I should have learned both lots better before combining. I rode same route toward Leadville unloaded today (without dead ends ;) ), felt much better

Wow. My pass is smaller than Chuck's (only 9,600). He needs SOMETHING with some size.

Saucy Tuna and coffee. Yum. Ok, sorta OK.

I am enjoying the report!

Tim, riding loaded versus unloaded is like a whole different bike, and yep it SUCKS in loose gravel on a loaded bike.

Thankfully it looks as if you are making the best of an awesome trip tangent trip anyway.

Im not sure I would have wanted to stay with Bill and Albie more than 2 days either.

Tim,
That sucks about breaking away from the herd. Are you going to stay at the same campground or keep moving?

I just got back from CO and did some unimproved roads with a fully loaded RT to get to NF land so I could camp free (was wishing I'd bought the GS instead). Keebler Pass was easy on the RT though. My doubt about doing the pass subsided when I started meeting Camrys and minivans.

Hope you have a good trip.
Mike

Magoo, Njoytheride and Coperjohn are over in Ouray for the week, ride over there and hang out with them! I think theyre riding some fairly tough passes, but there are some real easy ones around there too you could sightsee on, and at least have some company in the evenings. I've got the address of the place they are if you need it.

I'd planned on riding out but the Kansas heat has me skeered.

Looks like you're a couple hours away from Salida, it's a cool town as well with some great places to eat on the Ar River. It's a cool little town.
