too funny none the less ![]() back to morrison, most of the time it's impossible to even go the speed around morrison with all the traffic. the only killer spot i've found is if you're heading and have the road to yourself coming into town and you've been opening it up through the curves...most of the time it's more like following a line of cars. i like the upper section of grapevine to twist the throttle being so close to denver. i never see bikes up on that road.

They park on the sidestreet, just to the left as you come into town from the canyon. You don't see the sheriff until you're right on top of him. Mostly weekends and especially during the tourist high season. I think it pays well for them.

You're more likely to see one on the section of 8 that connects 285 to Morrison, and MOST likely to see one heading up Bear Creek Canyon - they love to sit at the Red Rocks 2nd exit where the speed limit is low and people like to speed up leaving town.

Red Rocks exit is where I usually see them and have never seen a speed trap setup between the Fort and their office where I am really tempted to speed also.

It seems that Morrison needs to be avoided at all costs. And I would also avoid driving up Bear Creek Canyon or riding bikes us there. Seems like the whole place is out to get you.
After all the place is just a 'boutique' town (to quote one of the guys in the web pages cited). I think that will certainly help my access to the pool tables in this boutique town and the severely overcrowded restaurants.

I lost a relative in Modesto, California a week ago today, in a head-on traffic accident. My neice was damn near killed, and is still hospitalized with skull fractures, and multiple lacerations. The deceased woman's daughter and daughter's boyfriend were also in the vehicle, and were injured as well. The woman driving the other car crossed over the centerline, having 'lost control' of her car. In this day and age of personal irresponsibility, another life has been lost. All because someone who didn't know how to drive did so, instead of taking the damned bus.

Gee, and I thought one of the first way to spot bad drivers was to look for speeders and people driving through stop signs, etc. Personally I would rather put the responsibility for good driving instruction on parents rather than let the cops teach the kids how to drive. When the tickets go to the parents, then possibly things might change somewhat. And what would it cost to have much more public instruction in good driving habits? Most high school already have driving classes. What else would you recommend, more extensive testing before you can get a driver's license? Have you noticed the wait times at DL offices? I guess you also haven't noticed the number of illegal aliens and others who obviously don't have licenses or insurance. Oh yeah, lets beef up the immigration services and the license bureaus, but that would be furthering socialism, right? Good plan, but one I assume you are not for. And you relative who was killed by the woman crossing the centerline... Was she talking on a cell phone? I strongly advocate really stiff fines issued by Morrison police and other agencies for anybody talking on a cell phone while driving.

Just FYI. If you get a ticket in Morrison your plea bargain is on the back of the ticket. You do not need to go to court, there is no advantage. Last and only ticket I got there I went to the (standing room only) courthouse and wasted half a day of my time. Now I intentionally do 5 mph under the speed limit anywhere in those city limits. The circumstances for my ticket were shady anyways but what can you do. There was another bike with me and we were following a car, I was the only one with a ticket... 35 in a 25....
