Back Off Wig Wag for a Hack?
So I just wired up a Garmin GPS power supply to the Bonnie rig and after I closed it all up, it occurred to me that I have a Back Off Wig Wag brake light modulator laying around that I was going to use on the cafe racer. I'm stacking miles on the Bonnie rig, so why not use it there?
Has anybody done this? An extra set of brake lights seems to complicate things in my Yuengling induced haze. I didn't pay close attention to how the sidecar lights are wired up, but I'm guessing they feed off the factory harness? Anybody have insight here?

I haven't done that, but I think it should work. I had one on one of my bikes, but I didn't have sidecar lights on that rig. It was wired to the wire feeding the power to the brake light. It seems if your sidecar brake light taps into the harness after the flasher unit both brake lights should flash

That's kind of what I was thinking too. I poked around a bit yesterday and I was a little baffled about the wiring on this new fangled Bonneville. I'm used to old bike where there is tons of space for wiring, whereas on this Bonnie, everything is sort of crammed in there. I'm hitting the road again today, so it will all have to wait until I get home next week.

Interesting....never seen a Wig Wag light modulator before. That will get some attention!
![]() http://www.customdynamics.com/signal..._modulator.htm I built a light flasher from a Vellerman MK178 Third Brake Light Flasher kit, that flashes 5 times/sec then goes solid; every brake action after that is solid until a timing circuit resets (about 10 seconds or so, IIRC) and then the module resets itself. I connected this module to some LED lights I put on a larger reflective plate behind the moto license plate.

In some states wig-wag lighting is illegal, unless you're an official emergency vehicle. However, modulating the brake lights is legal.
