Yes, I know Dustin the owner pretty well. We've had our fair share of good races when he was also on an SV650.

matt, without you, we might just be cruising on holcomb valley all day long...

after moonridge, rode to coxey- 3N16 to check out more campgrounds.

nice meadow next to the campground

crabflat water crossing by ers

isaac

hahaha......matt manage to find the dry portion of the river....

we had so much fun that we lost track of the time. isaac and i still plan to ride the crest, the group decided to give up the remaining dirt roads and slab it.

isaac's made this one. my guess, we did 320 -340 miles that sunday on 2 national forests

it was a fun day of riding and really enjoyed everyone's company. glad that we were able to get out in spite of the hot weather at home.

thank you all and we'll ride again....

Hey Joel, just came across some interesting info regarding the Race Track in DV. Good reference material for next year's Noob Rally.

richard, good to hear your're still coming! the date has been moved to first week of october. your ktm hard part by that date should no longer be unobtainium.

i read most campgrounds in big bear will be closed after oct. 12th.

i have been weighing the dates and camp ground availability.

september will still be hot! riding to pioneer town could get toasty.

however, by late september or early october, the weather should start getting comfortable and makes desert riding bearable. let's call this good bye high altitude and welcome to the desert.

i have reserved a remote campground on the south side of the lake and next to a dirt road. the camp is $120/night + fees.

the campground is good for a lot of campers and several trucks. we can only have @ 4 trucks and the rest would be motorcycles. sorry, this is not meant to be a big event. 2 of us are trucking, we can haul bikes and 2 riders to the campsite.

i only need 10 participants, easy going and responsible. maybe 12 depends on the person's character.... no cross crountry riding, will only stay on open roads and trails!

we will have bar-b-q on saturday night.

each person contributes $30, saturday dinner included.

paypal will guarantee you a spot.

i have received 7 PMs. yes, i read them all. PM me again and i will give you my paypal account.

thanks.

ride

Hello,

Rode from my house and met up with Alan (husky 511), and Tom, (wr250r).
Rode almost identical roads as you guys on Mon and Tues. I am much slower so I was sweep. Did not ride through the water though, where was that? Did ride on a rocky trail, all rocks, for about 3/4 mile, but came to a really tough spot.
We started piling rocks up to go over steps. Tom went up and said it was all of the same. Probably worried about me not making it and he would be right. Tree to the right had tire marks all over big roots from rock crawler of some kind or riders way better than me. Had a great ride up, there and back. 413 miles.
Todd, thanks again for the yellow Ortliebs as they matched my yellow drz.
What a fashion statement.
Alan and Tom are great to ride with and great guys. Meeting Alan at 9:00
tomorrow at Newcomb's on the Ambo. Join us??

hi dave, that's a lot of killer miles!....

i know exactly where that is, past crab flats campground. that is one gnarly section and good to hear you all made it through.

if you take the left turn, that will take you to the river crossing.

here's from a ride from 2012.

According to Joel. “ Its only a few rock”

Black Diamond rated trail 3N34

ride

Hello Joel,

Well, met Alan at Newcombe's and had a nice ride over to Wrightwood then home. Left gas on the Ambo for a week and was flooded so took Burgman 650 as all tar today. Alan was on his Connie, smooth and fast.
The ride in Big Bear was 3n69 and was not near as tough as 3n34.
My fat ass and wobbly knees wouldn't want any part of that trail. Would like to watch you guys go up and down though. Great riding.
Sure like to ride through Pine trees, dirt or tar.

That's looks familiar. I think the first time I rode with Bill, CT, he told me about it so I asked to go take a look. I looked.

Then I started up (like a giant moron on the mighty xt250) , made it to just before you hit the big rocks, realized I needed to change my line, turned too tight, braked, slid backwards and dumped.

Bill, deadpan: "that was an aggressive turn".
