Day 49: Robe to Home.

Distance: 568 km Total: 21,957 km

My first day of consistent rain for the entire trip.

Cold. Wet. Very windy. Welcome home!

I’d had a little too much fun the night before. Money only for fuel today.

Breakfast and lunch was a weird combo of whatever left overs I found in my bags…

I hit reserve 170km from home.

In Ballarat, I dug out my last $9.35 and got some gas.

7 weeks and almost 22,000km after I left, I arrived home with $0 in my pocket and about 2 litres of fuel remaining. Nice.

What an inspiring ride on a trusty Scram! Happy birthday for the 20th and I bet you have memories of the open road and sights, sounds and smells that you've been able to draw on in the last 3 years back in the mundane world.

I enjoyed that RR. Now who is going to be the lucky employer?

Thanks for the kind words.

A little update - a few days after arriving home, I'd had a haircut and got that job. Started the following week. 10 months later I left for my current employer in the medical equipment field.

The Mighty Scrambler has been rewarded with Ohlins and rather a lot of farkles.

I did a shuffle of my bikes and a BMW Dakar and 955 Tiger passed through the garage before both being sold to fund a Tiger 800XC last Christmas. The KTM 950 Super Moto was an impulsive addition but oh so much fun!

Tripping - nothing so long as this ride but I've seen more than my fair number of km/miles roll beneath the wheels including a work funded study tour to Germany, three weeks on a bike through Vietnam and countless local weekenders and day trips.

Looking forward - I've just confirmed 2 x dirt trips around NZ and am waiting on approval for 3 weeks riding the Euro Alps.

Not wanting to gloat but life is good

Sorry to dig up an thread, I was clicking through all the Triumph Scrambler threads and stumbled across yours, and suddenly I'm 18 years old again with my old Holden HQ and its white hot bonnet.

Why? Because of these photos, I stayed there (cough, cough) 25 years ago when Pete and Sue were just setting up (is it still owned by them?)

and got out of paying by building that very hut (does it still have my name on it?)

making a slightly odd looking office chair with a chainsaw, doing their logo, and painting some signs

I wonder if any are still there?

So thanks for taking me back it's good to know it's still there.
