Guzzi Weirdness

Hunter S. Thompson said something like "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Don't think I ever understood it until I brought this home last Friday.

The plan was to paint over the flames, fit it with a proper seat and start scouring eBay for period correct exhaust. But in the past 2 days, I'm starting to see the appeal of the weirdness. Maybe instead of fighting it, I'll go with it! Gonzo, baby!

What do you think? Return it to stock? Get out the hot-glue gun and attach every marble, sea shell, bottle cap and troll doll I can find? I suppose there are intermediate positions on that continuum.

It's a runner, by the way. '75 850-T with 48k miles. No chrome bits in the oil and had been ridden regularly.

Leave as be and ride the thing, summer's too short to bother about a paint job. Real mish-mash though. See how you feel come winter.

I think that answers many questions as to the thought that went into this bike . . .

Bandit just wants you to ride it to a Guzzi rally and get rocks thrown at you. But, I have been to many Guzzi rallies and you might fit right in.

Riding a Guzzi is unique enough. if you're goi ng to go ugly don't go gay and ugly.

Careful Mike, I got a scholarship on my rock throwing ability. And a police record to prove it!
