Looks like they caught up with the deer to get the other side of the story for this gem of a news clip.

Jaw is on the floor I think I am more phased just seeing them on the side of the road than you are after hitting one

The last GPS point I had coming out of the turn was 55 mph. I was maxed out at 74 going up the straight before that. That stage has about 1200 ft of elevation change in 2.5 miles so it's steeper than it looks the whole way up. My top speed of the weekend was 84 mph out on a long flat stretch of one of the dirt stages.

The velocity vector of the deer was changed pretty drastically. It would make a fun exercise for a PHY101 class studying inelastic vs. elastic collisions.

I've raced for years, so I totally get the 'get back up and go NOW!!!' mindset.. but damn thats impressive seeing ya do that after a deerstrike.

You sir, are a stud. Well done.

On Jalopnik, A user named Darryl "killboy" Cannon comments, "Punishment for driving around a blind turn in the wrong lane. Keep it up and "races" like this will be banned. Be sure and complain loudly when it happens too."

What a jackass...makes his living taking photos of people doing stupid crap on a public road, has crashed out numerous times on a bike on said public road, and then makes this moron comment about a race on a closed course. What a dipshit.

When studying the shadows of the trees across the road in the still sequence, you can get a bit an idea how far the bike slid from the impact frames to the stop slide frames. Using the deers body length as a gauge you must have spilled a chunk of speed from the 55 mph I'm figuring.
Very nice recovery without any language.....I think I might have been more vocal!
