CRF650 X with pictures

Hey I never said you could buy one,......but you can make one 280 lbs. wet no gas,.. crf450 suspension wheels and brakes,.. Ohlins shock. Sorry only one exists.......

Wake up Honda and build these,.. I put this one together from Honda parts so there's no excuse!!

This is not just a front end conversion or wheel swap. I actually had the entire 450 rear suspension grafted on after a week of work, then decided to go farther and eliminate the weight and maintenance of the linkage with a custom Ohlins PDS style shock. Many other trick parts such as a luggage rack weighing 1lb 5oz, low mount steering damper that tucks in tight, removed heavy restrictive airbox etc,.. This is not new, I've been riding it for a few years and still can't understand why Honda won't make one since its all honda parts!!!

You can see many more photo's here. http://s116.photobuc...yaker43/CRF650/

I posted it a couple years back and got a lot of interest. Sadly it has to go on ebay to make room for future projects. Now that I took more pictures I thought I would leave them on my photobucket page so others can get some ideas and hopefully go further with it. The venerable 650R had so much untapped potential.

This is a unique approach,... instead of farkling it up to 350lbs with shiny catalog goodies, I went the other way and dropped 25 lbs while improving the suspension. See how many changes you can spot?

My new ride is a 183 lb XR218,... that's almost 100 lbs lighter than this one

It works better with all that suspension of course, I hate to part with it. Its been on a few 1000 mile adventures and has cris-crossed the rocky mountans, crossed florida and back off road, circumnavigated the upper penisula of michigan and summited pikes peak a few times. Good memories

Age and arthritis are making me down size a bit which is turning out pretty fun too.

Nice bike
Its a mystery to everyone what goes on in the marketing departments these days. Every manufacturer already has the parts to build a world beater but they refuse to put them all on the same bike

I'm secretely hoping this one won't sell and I'll be forced to keep it

This thing is ridiculously awesome.

How much time did you spend building it?

I would never keep track of time spent working on it, that would be depressing. After 7 years and 6000 miles of memories it sold for $3800. I hope the next owner has as much fun as I did
