Make sure to check out Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo on the Carribean side.
Way cool carib vibe plus there is some locally produced chocolate rolls that is out of this world. Many travel to Bocas Del Toro, Panama from here.

The cloud forests up in Santa Elena (Monteverde Area) are other worldly hikes. The Santa Elena reserve is just as incredible as the Monteverde reserve yet cheaper. In the town of Santa Elena is a restaurant in a tree and a sweet orchid garden. The cheapest lodging is in town.

Wow...wish I had seen this thread earlier! Perhaps the best thread on the whole ADV site, very entertaining.

"we're going to take the long way around"

Sorry, that line's been taken by a couple of dudes on GSs. So has long way down, in cases you think that is even more descriptive... ;)

What a fun RR. It's been said before ... Funny, informative, beautiful and just plain awesome. But I need to complement you on one other immensely useful feature: color coded reports so that it is clearly visible, what is part of the diary and what is the rest.

When I was young my mom took me, my brother, her friend and her friend's two kids on a trans-Canada trip from Montreal to Vancouver (& -island) and it was the best trip I had in my entire life. It was so good to re-visit a large number of places that I've been to and it felt so familiar.

I'm part Canuck, now living in Austria, and your ride report is on my daily to-read list, along with Noah's :)

Enjoy your freedom, keep it up and the best of luck to you.

Last post from these guys was two weeks ago?? I checked their blog and no new entries there either. Does anybody know what is going on with them? I don't remember reading about them saying they were going off line for a spell.
