The Dumpster Reject Remains
I Tried, Really I Did
It looked like a slam dunk. Escort Loquita out of the state and Alaskan's motorcycles would be safe once more. But no, the Despicable Ride invoked her evil powers upon her unsuspecting owner, the Duchess of Hay , and thwarted our plans to rid Alaska of its corruptive influence. Apparently the evil (some add the word “ugly” to its list of descriptive adjectives) Dumpster Reject overheard plans being made to take her somewhere Outside (anywhere Outside as far as I was concerned, just so she stayed there) and leave her, inciting her to turn against the Duchess, the very hand that has so often put gas in her tank. The result is that health issues now prevent Hay Dee from accompanying me on a ride down to the South 48, serving as a major disappointment to both of us as this trip had been in the planning stages for months, with visits to some great roads incorporated into our intended route of travel. For my part, there will be no one to pose for goofy photos or to provide fodder for more photos as she plays with her food. For Hay Dee's part, she will have to sit at home following my SPOT track as it zigs and zags all across the South 48, wishing she could have at least gone as far as the fun Forest Service roads in the Southwest. Commiserate with the poor young lady if you get a chance. She's not too thrilled with this turn of events. ![]() So, if all goes according to plan (yeah, I know, quit laughing ) it will be Fast Eddy's for breakfast on Wednesday morning, followed by riding down to the Huddy rancho in Montana via Icefields Parkway and the Kootenays. Gonna see if I can still ride like I used to when I was a mere youth of 65, and make it to Hinton, AB virtually non-stop. Hope to check into a motel there on Friday afternoon. After that I can slow down to 600 to 800 mile days in order to get lots of photos along the way.No ride report planned. At least not while on the road and, depending on the number and quality of photos gathered in my travels, maybe not after returning home. This is gonna be just a middlin' trip for me – about 10,000 miles before I park the bike in Pennsylvania – so it's not expected to be anything to write up an exciting report over. If anyone is interested in following along to see where this little ride takes me, the track will be here: Spotwalla

So Much For Plan A
Okay... what's for breakfast on Sunday?
Everything checked out, all working as intended. Put the last few pieces on the bike. Hmmm where are the little nylon screws for the windshield? C'mon, they gotta be somewhere around here. ![]() Looked high and low - aliens musta snuck in and took 'em - they've plumb disappeared. So now I gotta wait until the hardware store opens in the morning to go get six little screws and nuts. There goes 7 or 8 hours from my schedule. ![]() Oh, well. I'll be leaving Glennallen in the daylight, at least.

Spot progress a bit low so far
I did happen to check progress this a.m. on the Spotwala deal and it did not show much so far. Probably still waiting for the hardware store folks to open up.. Make sure you pace yourself out there is my only .02
I'm really good at giving free advice I'd never follow to others that don't need it ![]() ed

Apparently we have movement of the "spot"
Looks like he's rolling along... good to have a properly bolted windshield at speed. Glad you could find em in Glennallen. My Aeroflow on a K1200RS once busted most of it's plastic screws at 125 and bent over so far it hit my helmet. A year later they sent me some plastic recall/replacement screws due to reports of breakage, but I'd already gone metal when they broke the first time!

Just spoke to Jack. Claimed he got to Whitehorse and realized he had forgotten to turn on his SPOT, so he turned around and went back to Glennallen.
He's all the way to Tok now, on his "second" attempt. The DR curse lingers and lingers and lingers.
