Don't tell me you rode through Warren without stopping. Were you in a hurry to get to the water crossing at the end of the video?

My popcorn is kind of dry, someone pass the butter.

Hi LB , just checking in; been watching the Olympics and giving my brain a rest. Hope your enjoying the videos, thought I'd try something new on this RR.

We did stop in Warren for a short spell but it'll be part of my narrative.

Here this should keep you entertained....... Trust me it's steeper than it looks. Going back to watch the Olympics for a bit.

To all of you popping in.... I appreciate it. Promise more coming up.

Day 4

Morning, afternoon or evening.......... depending on your geographical location. SO! what about those Olympics.

Day 4 I woke somewhat unrested due to the deer munching right outside my tent. Oh but what a beautiful day

So now it up over French Creek by Burgdorf Hot Springs and should be an easy scenic ride into Yellowpine....... yea right!

Here's a few shots of the ascent

Bob's Pictures

Doug

Sorta group shot

Up on top... high speed for now on..

Finally hit the intersection

So we rolled into Warren thinking the little restaurant would be open; we were hoping for a nice brunch..

No such luck open only Saturday and Sunday.

Bob's Picture

Very shortly after we pulled up this local pulled up telling us the story about the restaurant etc, then ask where we was heading?

We told him Yellowpine. He countered back that the bridge was out and under construction and a security guy was posted to ensure no crossing the creek (fish habitat disruption). A couple of other grey-bearded ATV rides also chimed in, that no go, you boys need to back track into McCall and take Lick Creek.

And then the old fart starts egging us on.... I bet you boys can take them bikes anywhere..... uncomfortable silence.......... He then prods more stating he know an old road that'll take us around and drop us off on top of Warren Summit. You only have to go around an old bridge and jump a few..... his words..... "pencil dick trees" He then gave us instructions how to find the turn off.

OH Crap, that statement just lit a fire in several of the crew, a quasi- "double dog dare" damn, I smell the testosterone rising!

I am sure he was laughing his butt off as we rode out, expecting us to return with a tails between our legs......... Ha! we didn't come through.

First sign

I'm getting that gut sick feeling..... I am so wishing I was on my DRZ right about now!!!

And so now it's game on.....I just know there's going to be some of this.. Remember this all times 8 (8 riders

I'll be back in awhile...

Glad I didn't have to do that a few days earlier. It probably would have been easier on the mighty 250 tho. -al

Thanks for the entertaining video Sam!
It's kinda sad to see the Winter Inn renamed and only open on the weekends.

Hey there Trailrider, I heard you had a good ride up the Hells Canyon ans Sturgill area.

Glad your enjoying the videos, just trying to bring a different feel my RR. It is a lot of work thought, especially to make it interesting.

What I was told is the Husband/wife team running it, and I forget their names.. seems the husband died of cancer and she lost a lot of the will to keep running it so she only opens for the weekend. that's the story I got.

Yeah I had another good solo ride. I have the Nevada Benchmark out right now trying to figure out where I'm going for my "5th annual last weekend of September ride."

So we managed to get everyone through, mounted up and headed on up. It was really a great fun road, well most of it. couple miles out a came around the corner to a washed out road going up hill and spy 4 bikes laying in rutts. Seems the chuck wagon took a dump and stopped all forward progress.

I had to walk Moya back down to a flat spot then went up to help push and shove bikes up the hill, that about wore me out.

Got a good running start and got to the top where we all needed a short break to recoup.

Our Chuck wagon

Here's Bob's ride

After a little break and I was feeling pretty bad Larry gave me a packet of electrolyte... 10 minutes later I was feeling better, not great, but better.

We took on off, and it really is a fun trail

with a few diversions along the way

Bob's picture

We tootle along just fine climb up some saddles and then crest a summit/saddle when the road turns into two ruts and starts descending rapidly like almost 40 degree slope. This became a hand full as I pretty much locked up the back tire sliding unable to stop and feathering the front to maintain control.... old water bars were the only things you could use to come to a stop.

Well since I was number 2 in line I didn't see what happened behind me but I assumed there was a lot of and of course

This should give you an idea of how steep the decent was, like this for a good half mile

Bob's shot

So as we are going down I figured I bet it's block off at this end too.

I cam around a corner to see three large boulders with a deep trench behind it and 2 very large long trees laying across wise. Sorry didn't think to get a picture.

Thank God for the Water Bar to stop.

Guys starting looking around for a crossing point. Me I sat down ate something drank so water and figured there's go going back up........ that lying old fart in Warren is probably laughing his butt.

Here's our solution we have 8 able, well mostly able bodies we'll just lift the ride over.... kinda, sorta.

The solution:
