When I look at google maps, there is a loop to the south and up to warren summit, NF340/355. Is that how you got around? I was eyeballing that when I thought I might be trapped. -al

Hey Al,

It's a thin dashed red line that spurs off of 359, a couple miles up.

Day 5 AND 6

So we all had a hot meal and went straight to bed, I don't know about the others but I slept like the dead, and I woke up very sore....... where's my Ibuprofen!

Not much of a camp but the price was right... Free

Bob's Picture

Were Packed and ready Bob's Pic

morning group shot shot taken by a couple riding around from Colorado, sorry can't remember their names nice folks.

Bob's nicely set up bike. I know he did something to the left foot peg sheared a bolt or something but Curtis put him together to finish up, I think he couldn't stand on the pegs tho...

Today was an easy scenic day as we proceeded down 413 along Johnson Creek to the intersection 579 at Landmark

579 while not technical but is absolutely beautiful, not to mention I was running at a ludicrous speed All the way across to Bear Valley, it felt good!

Random shots mostly taken by Bob and Matt

We slabbed it on to Ketchum as the valley with Stanley was smoked in bad, from a fire burning on my designated route ans closed off...

Lunch in Ketchum

Oh before I forget a another group shot from up on Galena Summit

Bob's shot, Humm, seems we are missing Doug.

After lunch it was up over Dollarhide and down to our camp spot for the night... Baumgardner Campground. Oh the Hot Tub was Soooooo good.

http://www.recreation.gov/camping/Ba...abIndex=Search

Camp

Bob's

That's the road we just came in on

Now here's the cool thing, the camp host came but starting BSing with us and brought back a cooler of ice laden cold beers for us.......... OUT... FRIGGIN.... STANDING! We celebrated because tomorrow was our last day.

It's All down hill...

See the cooler he said just leave it he'll pick it up in the morning

IT WAS A GOOD EVENING.

DAY 6

We woke very early and kickstands up by 6:30 am and were out..... rode 20 miles to Pine for coffee and breakfast then rode down to Castle Rock rd stopping briefly at skull rock

Bob

We then headed up over Bennett Mountain and the decent into the inferno

From here on it gets hot

We stopped to fuel up in Hammett and told everyone there's no gas and little to no water until Jarbidge NV about a 100 miles. It hovering in the high 90's right now.

Not much in the way of pictures but suffice it to say, the group split shortly after as we hit the actual ICT in the middle of summer and the poof (talc) was 6 to 8 inches deep. I dumped my bike three times in about 200 yards. I said I'd met the die hard guys in Nv Doug went with me and Steve Bob and Matt called it. I tried to talk'em out of it, in hindsight probably a good call. They started heading home....... wish them safe travels.

Here's Matt's video of the ICT south of Hammett if you fast forward to about 5 minutes in you'll see me just getting up.. the first time

Doug and I took the safer bet and rode Clover Creek road. Took him out to Bruneau Canyon Overlook

It was a good 100 degrees and had just recently burnt out here.

We rolled into Jarbidge around 4:30 I treated myself to a cheap room with a bed and a long hot shower, followed up with a great Prime Rib that evening.

The other guys rolled in about 2 hours later telling us how they were spent pushing through the puff and having to fix a flat in the hot, hot sun. Those beers never tasted so good!!!

I slept good.

We had a good crew everyone pulled together worked well and would do it again...

I LOVE IDAHO and the PNW

Thanks for following along everyone

A very well done ride report with a perfect balance of phots and videos. You made me feel like I was right there with you without having to do the hard work of lifting bikes over big logs.

Thanks for taking the time to share with the rest of us.

Where you headed next?

Well done! It looks like you guys had a great ride.

Are there plans for someone to post a GPS gpx file of the track/route? I'm new to the area, and seeing the track in Basecamp would be super helpful. Any takers?

Thank You LB. So you missed out on the sweating and grunting part by just watching I am leaving Thursday on my Tiger to Portland, to visit a friend for a few days, you know him! The World Traveler.

I am then going to stay up in Cascade for a bit to escape the heat, do some fishing and ride my DRZ about. I'll be internetless there.

First Part of October, hopefully on the Pony Express Trail through Nevada.

You'd love it, and that KLR was made for this place.

Thanks! I don't really need a GPS as I know this route (except when I followed it and did miss my turn) lucky for me it crapped out so I never missed a turn afterwards.

That said I do have the GPS route from five years ago, Pm me an email address I see about getting it to you.

Thanks for riding along with me everyone, I need to rest up and prep the Tigger for my road trip.

Great report Sam. I'm exhausted seeing all those big bikes and logs

We'll look for you in Nevada end of September and part of October (10-14 days). We're gonna spend a couple days in Jarbidge exploring the hills and the Bruneau.

Me too! I think I'll be spending a lot more time on my DRZ Well, maybe we'll bump into to each other out there. never know. I would probably see your dust plume 6 miles out

BTW, the GL has over 30K miles on it now... PNW, NV, Mexico, CA.. but she's not so waterproof anymore, I'll seal some seams up this winter.

See you out there

Well done Sam and crew
I didn't see the video you said to check on you at the 5 minute mark.
You sure have developed your skills putting together those videos.

No wonder nobody reads my reports... they don't hold a candle to you real adventurers with your mad reporting skills with pictures in focus and professional quality videos...

I am looking forward to reading many more...

You sir are absolutely correct, I did not post the video. Hey you had a great ride and some awesome pictures and what's really cool you did it all by yourself

So here's the video shot by Matt. Just forward to about the 5 minute mark and watch; remember this is just the beginning of the desert section, it doesn't get any better
